This is assuming Montreal moves one or more of Petry, Anderson, Hoffman, ETC to be able to afford to resign Dumba.

Absolutely not from Wild. Montreal fans: you aren't using Minnesota to get 2oa. Minnesota will just trade fiala to devils themselves. Dumba isn't available

I agree on the first part of our statement, not so sure on the Dumba part.

Also, FYI, it's a Minny fan that posted this......

I completely understand, but Minnesota can trade fiala directly to devils and get a top c prospect @ 2oa

I totally agree with that. I'm just not sure if they are making Dumba unavailable. They won't be able to afford him next year. He's gonna want $7mil+, and you guys will need to pay Boldy (big increase), Gaudreau and a few others. They only have 23 mil for 12 guys after next year ($7mil at the bottom end of his ask drops them to 16mil for 11. Boldy will be at least $5 a year on a 2 year bridge (if they don't sign him long term). That brings it down to 11 mil for 10. I guess it's doable, but they get much better flexibility and can get a good return moving him.

Fiala's numbers are bolstered... he's a 60 pt player that got 80 points. Good for him. It's not getting 2OA.

Fiala had 64 points in his 51 games with Matt Boldy. Before that he was playing with essentially 3rd line players like Freddy Gaudreau, Victor Rask, and sometimes Hartman. The year before, Bonino, Marcus Johansson, Bjugstad and Parise and Rask were among his common linemates which is what resulted in his slow start in Minnesota. If Fiala was “bolstered” by Boldy and Gaudreau then imagine how much he would bolstered by playing with Hughes.

My thought process is the number 2 pick would likely be Cooley and he would presumably not be ready for at least 1 year, maybe 2. This move would be to be able to compete immediately while also having the future in mind.

In regards to Dumba, I agree that he is probably not going to be moved, I think he should because it is going to get very tough to keep him around unless he signs for 5m or less, especially if Boldy improves next season and demands a larger contract than 6m or so, which I could see being likely.

So, despite this not being the most realistic, it was an idea to get a Fiala and Dumba replacement who will likely come with a cap hit quite a few million lower than Fiala and Dumba following them being resigned in 2023.

If Cooley was 100% NHL ready this year I would much prefer that route, but in the interest of not wasting more years of Kaprizov than we need to, I would not mind reuniting Caufield with Boldy.

There no chance at all that MTL trade Suzuki, Caufield and Romanov they are the pillar of rebuild core. Trading Caufield is a huge step back on asset point and also would pretty sure loose Suzuki loyalty to the team.

MTL probably don't have asset to aquired top 10 pick but can probably do something to gain rank between 20 to end of second round. While it's not the best draft or the deepest there some interesting player on second round too or late first round.

A Petry and/or Hoffman could be use with some of your late pick to advance and gain some good pick.

Imagine how much Slafkovsky will bolster Hughes. Slafkovsky or Fiala? Slafkovsky 7 days a week.

This trade doesn’t do much for the Wild but I do believe you’re on the right track with including Dumba. I think with how many forwards are available the wild need to spice up the trade to get max value. I could be wrong I’m not a GM but having a surplus of forwards available does not help getting max value for Fiala despite him putting up the numbers he did. I think whoever gets him is getting a lot of untapped potential yet. What he did in the limited games with Boldy tell what you can get if you give the guy good linemates not 3rd and 4th liners. Darkhorse trade partner would be Buffalo. Trade Fiala and Dumba to them for mittelstad, a 1st this year and another piece. They have 3 1st rounders this year. They’ve got the ammo

Montreal aint giving up caufield.. the second pick or filaia 100% isn't worth caufield and the reason mtl is not moving him
