Quoting: GMBL
I think it will either be higher hit on a 3-year term, or they add 1 or 2 years to get the hit down. I'm assuming he will want more than 4.1m (since he kind of proved he still can be that guy that was paid that much). I don't see Shattenkirk in the teams long-term plans, so depends how deep the RD prospect pool is in Ana and how many are 3 or less years away.
Yeah...it's starting to look better in Anaheim on that end...Helleson needs some time-didn't look very solid in San Diego, but was also thrown into the mix when the team was competing for a playoff spot. Drysdale is looking better every day, and I'm hoping for big things in a year or two. I'd imagine we see a pick like Casey, Nelson, or one of the other similar RD's at either 22 OA or early in the 2nd, which would be 3-4 years away. It's honestly not like the Ducks couldn't use him, and I absolutely love him, I just hate the idea that Verbeek pulls a Drunk Bobby-type move and signs him long term when we all know that he's going to break down sooner rather than later. Extremely happy he won one with the Avs though-absolutely a fan fav. in Anaheim, and seeing him and Cogs win one felt nice.
As for Shatty? He had a solid year, but I'd imagine he's a deadline move this year.
My hope is that the Ducks use some of the draft/prospect capital that they've amassed, and make some high(er) end moves to raise the ceiling for this team. If they can do that, and add Manson as a complimentary piece, I'll be happy. Otherwise it's David Savard-2.0, which just seems like a waste for both parties.
And don't
