MN declines. Russo is reporting he expects two assets back. A first round pick and a prospect. Prospect value goes down the higher the pick or protections on a 2023 first.

I always see this excuse of "cap strapped" as an excuse to offer a piss poor trade. The market and interest by other teams will determine his value. I'm positive someone will offer more for his services.

Fiala had 85 points last season. He's not going for a bunch of scraps

Zacha probably won't be too enticing, 3-3.5m is a lot of money for them.

I also wouldn't count on Mukhamadullin getting moved. He seems like a guy that Fitz values a lot more than other teams. He was a reach of a pick in 2020 and Fitz went through a lot to get him to NA, while other teams will just see him as a guy that had a mediocre season in the KHL and couldn't make the Olympic team.

Would a 2023 first (top 10 protected) plus Ty Smith get it done? As a devils fan I would do that.

Minnesota doesn't need any type of d, so they declines

No. We just gave in-season extensions to Merrill and Goligoski, traded for Middleton, have Brodin locked up and have Kulikov on another year.

LHD prospect pool is loaded with Lambos, ORourke, Hunt and Peart.

Smith doesn’t move the needle, so you’d have to get pretty loose with that pick protection for that to be a serious offer.

Too much for Fiala. Devils are better off keeping their 4 assets and spending the $7 million in free agency.

This is a lowball offer because the Wild are cap strapped and don’t have any real leverage besides other teams bids. Definitely not too much for a top line winger.

No, we’ve got a plethora of good LHD prospects. Thompson and Gritsyuk are more appealing IMO.

Curious now that the trades actually happened which package would you rather take?

Ty Smith and the future first is close to the eventual trade. I think that what decided the deal was the fact that the first-rounder is a 2022 pick and a known quantity, and that Brock Faber is a Minnesota boy born and bred. Hooray for both teams!!

Once again the level headed people get it right. Excellent deal for the kings though. Fiala is a big piece and will fit nicely after you trade kempe to the leafs 😉.

The 1st and faber with zero dollars going back. But this is still an underpay for Fiala. Pretty rich (but fair) contract may have scared some other teams off.

I agree on the dollars back but you have to admit the og package I proposed has pretty equal raw value to the actual trade and was a lowball which is what I expected.

Not if they like someone in the draft at that spot. It is a steal of a deal for LA, no doubt.
