Not with that trade he isn't. Verbeek learned under Yzerman. Good luck. 🤭

Not for that junk he's not -- two bottom-roster rentals and two prospects? Are you kidding? If that's all he's worth, why do you expect to get to the Stanley Cup finals with him? We wouldn't trade you our backup for that mess of pottage.

Anaheim is actually capdumping him on to the Leafs to deliberately tank and position themselves with a chance at Bedard and continue the rebuild with an extra $6,400,000 to spend after next year.

You have an inflated perception of his value when the Ducks are trying to tank and position themselves with a chance for Bedard or other top draft picks........and this trade frees up $6,400,000 in capspace in one year.

Chicago has the Bedard race won already.

I agree........I actually Davidson will now being talking with Kane and Toews to see if they want out of Chicago......and the next step in the rebuild process is to trade both of them out and eat some Cap to obtain additional high draft picks while the team totally tanks during the 2022-2023 season.

What in the world makes you think that my team is trying to tank?

How about trading Manson for draft picks at the deadline?

He was on an expiring contract. Just like Lindholm, who wasn't going to re-sign here either, as proven by the fact that Hampus signed his new deal before he'd unpacked. And just like Rakell, who wasn't going to re-sign here either.

It's called getting assets for pending UFA's. You know, rebuilding?

Everyone knows the Ducks, Arizona, Hawks etc..... are rebuilding.....I don't understand why this is even being discussed.

Because you're complaining about the Ducks trading Manson for picks. Manson wants to re-sign with the Ducks. As usual, you're contradicting yourself. Do you even recall what you're arguing about? 🤭

I’ll just add to the chorus here so the point gets through. The ANA trade is terrible and an easy decline from ANA. They’d simply keep Gibson if that was the offer. It’s honestly not close

Gibson trade without retention is not going to happen. He’s got 5x$6.4 grimace with average or below average numbers. Why would we trade good players + good prospects for that ticket. No thx.

So we get an elite goalie and win a cup.

How about winning a playoff round first? Leafs are tied with Detroit in playoff round wins the past 6 years. Detroit hasn't made the playoffs in 6 years.

Gibson is an elite goalie playing on a poor Ducks team ..........and would be lights out playing goal for the Leafs on Canada's team.

What you do not understand is that the Ducks are trying to tank like the Hawks and Coyotes to help get a top 3 draft pick next year...........Moving Gibson helps them greatly by saving his CapSpace to they can take on more bad contracts for picks.

Gibbon’s save %’s last 3 years is .903-.904. He’s average at best now and at $6.4 M per over 5 years, an anchor.

I’m sorry but you don’t know what you’re talking about. He had a .917, was 3rd in saves and 4th in starts with a 2.6 GA in January of this year when he went to the All star game. No, he couldn’t manage those stats over the back half of the year because the ducks traded their entire D and rolled out an AHL defense + Fowler for the last half, and an offense that wasn’t any better. You gotta know a bit more about the player and situation than just quoting baseline stats before you criticize

This is comical. What do I not understand? I’ve been saying trade Gibson since February. However name one successful rebuild that in the early part of their build they traded their long term assets for UFAs on expiring or soon-to-be expiring contracts. The only relevant piece in the deal to being something worthwhile to Anaheim is Robertson (you could argue Hirvonen but he’s not a target at all at 5’9 where he won’t pass up any of our centers). Both other pieces offer no value for ANA because they’d be gone by the time they’re competing in 2-3 years

Last time I checked ........the Leafs have won the second most Stanley Cups of any team in the National Hockey League including the Detroit Red Wings.
