Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2022

Description
this team is not in a position to win with the lack of moves made this offseason
In a year with a very deep draft, I would look at a retool and get as much draft capital as they can.

Isles aren’t trading a pick in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory for a 30 year old. Especially when it doesn’t work cap wise.

Easy PASS from the Rangers, no need for another center.

With the way Doug feels about his moves today, he’s obviously not gonna go in that direction but there’s no doubt we got worse today and dropped to a playoff hopeful as opposed to playoff lock

Besides the fact that the Rangers just solidified their Center depth by bringing on Trocheck as 2C behind Zibenejad, they don't have the Cap space to make this deal work.

Even with Kakko on the move and O'Reilly at half retention, it's at least a $1.2M difference. They are right up against the Cap.

I think the Isles are going to make a trade and that 1 is very much in play. Tarasenko being one of those guys, Miller another. Lou has limited options but would need to shed Bails somewhere

I disagree with your thought process and your evaluation of Lou. Hard to imagine any GM wants to go four years in a row without a first round pick.

If his job is on the line? Definitely would. Also, the window is only open for so long with this group.

I agree, we are not a serious contender as it stands. Unless there is other trades in the works, this offseason is an absolute L. Trades that would make me consider us contender is moving Vladi and gaining Tkachuk. Moving Scandella and/or Krug and gaining a defenseman who can actually defend on the left side.

(huge sigh)

We're not in a position to halfway cut and run, man.
