Yes and I know it is likely to be in the teens to twenties anyway but there is that outside chance that it does end up top 11 then wins the lottery and we miss Bedard cause we didn't protect it. The risk however small would be horrible for a rebuilding team if it happened.

Only way Dubois gets moved to Montreal is if the Montreal first gets sent. It can have top five protection next year and be unprotected in 2024. But otherwise it can’t happen.

Him and his agent have all but said they want MTL. He doesn't directly control it but MTL knows he wants to be there so they likely don't offer anything significant for him.

If I was Winnipeg I'd be taking the best offer now and then let whatever team he goes to deal with him as a UFA. They won't get that offer from MTL though

I do not agree. I know Dubois is a 2C, but Dvorak is a borderline 2C/legit 3C. He was on pace for 48 points on a very bad team. He's an excellent faceoff guy and a very good penalty killer. Dubois has never went over 61 points in his career, and his defensive metrics were awful. I think it is very much an overpayment. I know Winnipeg fans won't agree, but I don't see how you can justify a 60 point, second line center player, being worth a legit top 9 center, a B+ prospect and a first round pick. Dvorak, a B prospect and Montreal's second round pick is the max I would be willing to give up. I would not make this move at all (unless it was at a very good price, then I might take my chances), and give Dach this season at 2C and see what happens. I think Dubois in Montreal, with his past, and the pressure he would face, could be a disaster. Just my opinion.
