Another crack at JTM

Description
Trying it with more coming to VAN. IMO, Toews is the better piece to trade since he's gone after 23-24. To me, this is a pretty even trade in terms of what each team needs and the value of each player. Things get tight the year after but the Avs get JTM to re-sign then fill in with cheap vets on the bottom six.

Would think you could get a very good return for Toews. Would still prefer a RHD but Toews is a very very good player. I don’t think you should get rid of him though

I feel like this trade may be relatively fair but they would need Toews to play RD

Is there nobody else that can switch to RD? OEL? I bet Toews could play RD if he had the offseason to prep.

I suppose he could. Preferably we get a RHD but Toews is good enough that I think he could pull it off

I'd love that return for Miller but wouldn't the Avs rather give up Girard?

I get the idea of trading from a position of strength (LD) to add to a position of weakness (C), but Toews having 2 seasons left vs Miller having only 1 is a dealbreaker imo

Girard is younger and is signed for longer. They can't re-sign Toews after his deal is up so they reluctantly give him up for a very good 2C. Ultimately, I don't think this works because re-siging JTM just doesnt' work.

Canucks can’t say no to this. Toews is the perfect player for them other than handedness. Extension will probably be more palatable too.

Sakic, Makar and Lockeroom say no thank you. Toews way too important and JTM is the unwanted teammate

As good as the Avs forwards are their strength is their defense.

They are not trading their 1LD who is in his prime and on a bargain contract for two more years period let alone for a player who will be walking after one year.

Don't be so sure Toews is gone after 23-24 but he most certainly will be if you pay your 3LW 2.5M for 3 years. Joe knows better.
