Not moving that much for 1 year of Miller. Columbus shouldn’t be moving a 1st round pick yet, they aren’t a contender yet and even adding Miller doesn’t make them one. They are still 1-2 years out depending on how the defense develops.

With negotiation access being off the table, I can't see how the Jackets would give up more than maybe Peeke, Chinakhov and a 2nd. There's just far too much risk involved with blindly acquiring a 29 year old in the last year of his contract that is rumoured to want $9+ mil with term on his next contract.

Columbus is not in do-or-die win now mode so this trade is completely unnecessary. I would love if they add him in free agency next year though.

What? They absolutely are not. They're in the same not-quite-there-but-very-soon stage of rebuild/retool as New Jersey and Detroit.
