Power would be my front runner. I like Beniers and Wright’s chances about equally given their situations and the ice time they should see. Slafkovsky is a player I see starting in the AHL. Perfetti is ready to take a leap with us but I’m not sure I’d put him in the top category. McTavish is the dark horse to me. Can he have a big season like Zegras had?

Put Marchenko up instead of Johnson. Doubtful Johnson gets the opportunity to play in a significant enough role to compete for the Calder this year. Marchenko has a pretty decent chance to play on the 2nd line and top line PP. He's also 2 years older and has 3 more years of pro hockey success from the KHL.

Shane Pinto is still eligible and he has a good chance of winning imo.

I predict Matt Beniers, but keep an eye out for dark horse Thomas Bordeleau. Every time I've seen him, the kid has impressed.

Also backing Berniers
Power 2nd.
Kinda awesome if Slaf wins it, but I'd rather he spends 1 year in Laval.

Best odds from Buffalo imo is Quinn or Peterka. Just totally depends on whether they both play the full season in the NHL or not and who they play with. Quinn is more potent offensively but Peterka already has the motor and overall hustle to make him very effective even if he isn't scoring a lot. I haven't seen Power play enough to say he would be a Calder favourite, but certainly I envision him having a solid year.

Let's say all 3 of those guys play 82 games in the NHL this season If Quinn and Peterka play top 9 2nd PP unit and Power is 2nd pair and 2nd PP unit these would be my point projections (Gp-goals-assists-points)

Jack Quinn (82-20-30-50)
JJ Peterka (82-12-25-37)
Owen Power (82-5-35-40)

Now are any of those totals enough to be calder finalists? No clue but regardless I would be happy with those totals from our rookies. Ceilings on all those guys are very high.
