I don't think Colorado does that as they won't be able to afford Dubois' next contract and Winnipeg wouldn't want Girard as they don't need LD.

For the avs I’m playing the tread water until the next big cap hit comes as I think they might be able to get away with the mackinnon and dubois raises for a year if they bridge byram. Girard can play both sides so I was thinking that could be a fit with the jets.

Ok, I see. Most defensemen can play their offside, but the Jets really need a big, physical, right hand defenseman with a big shot. They have plenty of small, puck moving guys. I like Newhook though, so he's a good starting point.

Doesn’t make sense for Colorado. They are basically trading Newhook for Heinola and Girard for Dubois who will either get overpaid to stay in Colorado or overpaid to go to Montreal. It’s a Lose-Lose situation.

Like mentioned, jets don’t need girard. So they probably say no. I also like newhook so I wonder if there’s a deal to be made. Jets would probably want another solid roster player and picks/prospects.

I also think Avs shouldn’t do it.

Winnipeg makes this deal if you believe in Newhook. Personally I doubt Sakic would even blink before saying no.

Yeah honestly you’re probably right. Dubois is gone from Winnipeg in 2 years anyways. So get a good young C in newhook.

But Colorado won’t do that

Nobody is getting Newhook who might just be scratching the surface of the player he could become. Joe knows better.

He will keep Girard in his back pocket for now. Certainly not trading the both of them for the headache that Dubois is. Good luck Winnipeg. Don't envy you.
