Voracek has a terrible AAV for 2 more years. Monahan, really should have been on LTIR last season: regardless, he has 1 year left. CBJ would jump on this in a second. I'd rather keep Monahan, and be clear of the contract or just have him go back on LTIR if he cannot play.

He still put up 60 points last year. Monahan was done 3 years ago.

Monahan has had major surgeries and now could score 60 points if fully healthy and CBJs get out from the big Voracekcontract for a player much younger

At 8.25MM AAV for 2 more years. Are we expecting that production to rise with age? Maybe Monahan is done from his injuries, but a 27 year old has better odds of coming back from an injuries than

Monahan has been injured, nobody is diluting his poor performance. He only has a year left. Maybe the surgeries worked, maybe they didn't. That doesn't mean Voracek is worth 8.25AAV. hell, he has had 2 seasons where he earned that salary, and you'd expect Calgary to take on 2 more at 32 years old? The term here is the issue.

Only reason Jackets accept this if Monahan is LTIR the rest of his contract and we get Miller/Kadri etc. Otherwise we can afford Jake this year and can trade him retained next year for assets when he has only 1 year left.

Voracek is still a high-quality playmaker and has been one of the most important mentors to our developing prospects. Monahan is a waste of space.

There's no contest and there's no chance the Jackets take this on.

That's good because no reason Calgary would take this cap hit.
