Thanks about the Dork or Drury info. Kerfoot saw mostly 2nd and 3rd line action so he must have played with Kase. Kerfoot didn't play the PP though. Handy guy to have, and really I think his best position is centre (except for his poor face off %). But last season due to lack of injuries at centre for the Leafs, he played almost exclusively LW.

Moves can be made here as it’s not a comically high amount of cap. Gards trade mid season or just doing something to work the cap is fine. I don’t like kerfoot but this isn’t nearly as bad as the other moves made. Give palhal a break, he’s a real OG.

Thanks. Kerfoot's salary is actually 750,000 for season. If for cap reasons someone has to go, Kerfoot is still a good candidate as a team like Arizona would take him, and then be able to flip him at the TDL

I'm saying when a team wants to move a player OUT. That GM can't just wake up and say, I"ll trade this guy to get his full salary off the books and it POOF comes true.

Of course. As for kerfoot, it’s not the salary more the cap hit. He is cheap to bring in but because of the 3.5m cap hit, he would be the most expensive player I would bring in if I were the canes. I would prefer somebody cheaper but kerfoot could be a fit if all other options are exhausted.

It's at least 6 months - March is probably earliest but don't think anybody would be surprised if it was a bit longer and right around the playoffs.

I could see something like this happening - I don't think it really solves the problem that was just created but it's not a bad option. Cap can easily be worked out with other moves or even adding in a third team for retention.

I'd like to target Kane personally with max retention but who knows what the price will be.
