Ekholm just isn't what the Habs would be looking for if they moved assets out, easy pass on their part

The barrie for granlund swap is very interesting, but I can't see the oilers taking on another forward making 5 million because their cap situation is very... fragile. Otherwise pretty interesting... I feel like Ekholm definitely gets a better return than that in a trade though.

I guess I just don’t see how going from Ekholm to Barrie and Granlund to Dadonov is helpful to Nashville?

Josi and Barrie would be a terrible pair defensively and honestly carrier and Fabbro are beginning to build confidence in their offensive game so I just don’t see how this helps. Especially since it comes with signing de haan to a regrettable contract.

Granlund and dadanov make the same $ but Granlund is more versatile and better overall.

Interesting stuff and I’m very open to trading Ekholm and Granlund but I don’t think these really benefit Nashville

Edmonton declines. They don't need a fading Granlund and at $5M x 3, nor can they afford him.

Fading? He had 64 points last year. Nashville doesn’t have any need for Barrie. Matter fact none of these moves improve nashville

I don't see NHL upside with Vomacka, so I'd be fine with two 7ths for him. But yeah, every other trade here makes NSH worse.

So do you value Barrie over Nugent Hopkins? Because RNH and Granlund put up very similar numbers last year, but Granlund can play wing or center.

Fading, yes. He had just 29 points at 5v5 last season in 80 games, and it was his best season in his past 4. Worse, he sported a 55.77 IPP, meaning he's not contributing much to the offense at 5v5.

He must have done okay on the PP, but that's of no value to Edmonton, where he's not good enough to be on the 1st unit and the 2nd unit rarely sees the ice.

He's never been a good goal scorer (career high of 11 5v5 goals in a season) but last year he took just 74 shots in 80 games at 5v5.

I'd rather have Barrie, and that's without considering the contract difference.

He can, but I'd say he's more effective as a winger when looking at his 40% faceoff %. Also, Granlund took more faceoffs last season than Nugent-Hopkins has taken the past three seasons.

That's cool, but Edmonton doesn't need another center otherwise Nuge would be playing there.
