No thanks. I love Barzal, but that is NOT a good return.

Barzal is a career .61 points per game player, Vrana is a .58

I know Barzal is a center, so obviously he has more value, but I'd say Vrana and an A- asset is equal to Barzal. Veleno is worth more than Bellows.

The high picks going back, make no sense to a Detroit team that is trying to build the right way, while also giving up one of our best scoring threats.

Vrana is older, less productive and plays a less valuable position than Barzal. The dude came into the league as a PPG player and his numbers only declined because of Barry Trotz and Lou’s poor personnel decisions. These low ball offers are beyond ridiculous and they need to stop lmao.

The idea the Isles would take this is beyond ridiculous. Would take a top prospect, a good young player and a first in this years draft for us to even begin to have this discussion. This offer is laughable. Barzal warrants an Eichel level return and this package might be less than JT Miller will be worth at the deadline.

This is a bad trade for the islanders, they will get a better return. Also Detroit shouldn't do this as that pick will be far more valuable.

That's completely fair from an Isles perspective. Value is kinda irrelevant, as I was just stating that the trade doesn't make sense for Detroit.

I think we can both agree this trade doesn't make sense either way.

Agreed. I don’t think Detroit is any position to be buyers on the trade market. Isles aren’t in a spot to be buyers either imo.

But the value is horrendous lmao.

While this is not nearly enough for Barzal, the price to actually acquire him is not nearly worth the player you'd be getting. He is far more valuable to the Isles than the team who would be acquiring him.

I kind of get what ur saying but it entirely depends on who is inquiring about him

There's a very short list of teams that would benefit from obtaining Barzal at the perceived price (high 1st, top prospect, young roster player, etc). And of that short list, none of them can afford this $7M+ AAV

Barzal is a good 2C; he's a perimeter player. Aside from his first full year in the league, he's been pretty mundane. The Isles NEED to keep him - they don't want another JT situation or they'll never fill the building again. Hence, the price to acquire will be far higher than he's actually worth.

He’s not a 2C or a perimeter player. But his production under trotz has been similar to that. He’s actually very good about creating opportunities but he has no help around him and had terrible puck luck last year.

He's absolutely a perimeter player.

GMs don't care about puck luck when they're trading for assets.

Edmonton declines. I like Jesse more than any of the other pieces mentioned (including Kessel).

He’s not a shooter if that’s what you mean. It’s hard to go to the net tho when ur the first guy into the zone and none of ur linemates can keep up. He generates a lot of 1 on 2’s but not a lot of 2 on 1’s lmao.

I don't like it for either team as it is. Vrana and Barzal are guys you'd want to pair up, not trade each other for.

Do another one OP! I'd love to see Barzal in our uniform.
