that's right, he is better defensively, he's also 2 years older and hasn't been playing on a rebuilding team his entire career. Hughes will get there.
Neither team has been spectacular since both players entered the league playing for their respective teams. Canucks have been better than the Devils in that time but not by much. I personally think both players have similar ceilings offensively
It took Hughes 30 seconds and two laps around the black box to produce a mini-Jack Hughes. EP couldn’t deliver a mini-Elias Pettersson until the draft.
Yes, Jack had a better year offensively than Petey last season, but what about over both players careers as a whole? I think Petey has scored at a higher rate from that vantage point
Why look at stats from Hughes when he was 18? Pettersson wasn’t even in the league at the age
Compare their stats when they were both 20 years old. Hughes has a better rate
Person is saying Pettersson is better than Hughes because Pettersson is better defenisvely. I show an example of how being better defensively doesn't mean better overall. And somehow you twist my words.
I get that but Hughes isn’t good enough to be in that kind of comparison. An elite defensive centre is better than a Jack Hughes any time
Read this, Hughes is a light weight that breaks easily. Pettersson is an elite two way centre. There’s no debate give me a complete Swede over the little featherweight who breaks

They're the same weight. Wtf are you talking about
I personally think Jack Hughes is more talented. Now you could argue there about the same. But I think Jack Hughes is slowly becoming a top Center in the League.

This is a bad take my friend. I'm not a NJ or a nucks fan but Hughes is gonna be an elite center, his ceiling is much higher then peteys. No shade against Pettersson, great defensively but this isn't close, and it won't get any closer then it is now.

Hate to break this to you, but Pettersson is also very small in weight and injury prone.

I don't see how the same can't be said for Pettersson
You've provided no evidence to support that claim. For all we know, Pettersson can be a top 5 center as well[/quote
For sure. Obviously, anything could happen. I have no real bias here I hate the devils and don't care for the canucks. Personally I think Hughes is a more skilled player
Analytically
Jack Hughes is better Offensively and defensively.
Elias Petterson has the better underlying analytics.
Statistically, Hughes has improved every year and was PPG last year
Petterson has been solid every year but hasn't made the big jump yet and not PPG.
Hughes is 2 years younger
The Eye test also tells me Hughes is a more skilled and talented player.
Pettersson was a PPG in his first two seasons, so don't tell me he isn't a PPG cause that's factual incorrect. How the hell is Hughes better defensively? He doesn't kill penalties while Pettersson does. Eye test means nothing for two players who aren't in their prime yet

Technically he wasn't. he was just below PPG. So therefore it was Factually correct. Also I was just talking about last year anyway.
Also I said analytically wasn't nessarlily my opinion. But did Petey kill penalties in his rookie and sophomore season when he was 21? Genuinely not sure but he didn't have any SHP so he might not have played PK.
