If he's sitting out, Dubas should sit on the Liljegren contract for him. This AGM would make it work by trading Holl or sending him through waivers. The $1,125,000 would be enough.

The Clifford trade is kind of needless, his contract can be buried on the Marlies and seems likely to serve a leadership role there. No reason to give up even a small asset to move him, no benefit in doing so at all.

it's not like he is going to be a big part of this franchise and his contract is attractive to move as he is not young has no upside. It's either him or a prospect from the marlies.

    What?

We literally just don't need to move him, there's no reason to give the Islanders any kind of asset to take him when he makes league min and will almost certainly be sent to the Marlies. Fill the Clune role, a veteran leader and "good pro" to play fourth line minutes.

Why would we downgrade a pick just for fun?

For a 2nd and 7th I just assumed he was in the Kerfoot to Seattle trade.

I was kidding, pretty sure he forgot to sign him. If I had to guess, a deal is already done (1.6-1.8) and are waiting till a trade is completed to complete it. IMO we will see a few signings once a trade happens

How is Milano worth $2.1M when Heinen signed for $1.1M? No problem with adding him - although not sure he’s good enough to play 2lw - but not at $2.1 per

That's a nice recipe for having Sandin break with the organization and publicly demand a trade. Yes we own his rights and its a negotiation but you can't just treat young players like dirt and expect them to want to stick around at all.

The facts are he doesn't have a case when asking for more. It doesn't matter how much he wants it, it doesn't make sense for the team (or for any other team to offer sheet which we've seen so far).

Doesn't matter if he feels he deserves more and also feels like his opportunity to show hes worth more is stifled. Which will cause him to sour on the org and ask for a change of scenery. The can't just ignore how players feel and expect them to show loyalty later on when they do have more negotiating power.

If that was true, players would never stop asking for more. At some point the org says no in every negotiation. In this one, it should be with Liljegren's contract as a comparable.

What is Seattle's incentive for giving up a high draft pick in a deep draft for 1 year of a player that in not going to make a difference to the organization? Yeah I know Seattle showed interest in them last year with the expansion draft, they also thought they were going to be more competitive then they turned out to be. At this stage, the 2nd pick is worth more to Seattle than 1 year of Kerfoot.
