Islanders Make a Big Trade With Arizona

Created by: ms39
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2022
Published: Aug. 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Curious for feedback on the compensation package here, or if Arizona just says no outright to a Keller trade. Chicago really showed this offseason that even 24 can be considered “old” for a team in a deep rebuild.

A big no from Arizona: here is their counter offer.

Keller -> NYI

Raty, Holmstrom, 2023 first, 2023 3rd. On top of that, you'll have to pay to dump Bailey.

Honestly if I'm Armstrong it's gonna take more from me the islanders are really just lacking in peices that have any value

I wouldn’t even trade Raty, Holmstrom and multiple picks for Keller. Taking bailey does nothing for NY in this deal anyway.

You are grossly overvaluing Keller in this scenario. Dude is coming off a major injury and hasn’t lived up to his contract.

If I have to retain on Bailey then there is no reason to move picks. Also asking for 100 K retention is beyond stupid.

Then the Isles can trade for someone else. He's 24 and coming off a career year on an abysmal team. Quality over quantity my friend

I get that. I just don’t think Keller is as good as you think he is.

Also, 4th and 7th round picks do nothing for Arizona. They're loaded with picks. Again, quality over quantity.

Taking into account Keller’s age, and that he is locked up long term, and is very likely to be the next captain of the Yotes, I highly doubt that Arizona even considers moving him. He is a player that they want to build around.

Not to mention, he was only 4 points under a PPG, before his injury, with linemates that were mainly Shmaltz and Travis Boyd. A 24 year who put up 63 points in 67 games, with those linemates on an absolutely abysmal team, and is locked up until he is 30, no chance they consider trading him outside of a massive overpay. And the package that has been proposed is nowhere close to even making Arizona consider moving Keller.
