Trying to extract the most value in a future rebuild

Description
The trading partners are obviously hard to predict because we're talking 1-3 years in the future and nobody knows what a team's needs will be by that point. But this is the strategy I'd like to see, and roughly the value I'd like to see in return.

I would love Marchand, the age would be a bit concerning though. I think id rather go for Hall at that point

Yeah he's also coming off a serious hip surgery, so I'd definitely concede that his value might be lower than this a year from now if he declines this upcoming season. Although even a 60-70 point Marchand at $3m will still be worth a lot.

Marchand will miss the first 2 months of the season, So the odds of him putting up 60-70 this season is pretty small. And that's way too much for a 34 year guy coming off double hip surgery. Most players at his age never come back from that period.

Sure, I guess I meant 60-70 point pace. Again I'd definitely admit he might be worth much less than this, it just all depends how he performs this season.

A vast majority of 34 year olds, have never come back after having double hip surgery. Most would up retiring within a year or so.

that marchand trade is a tough one. avs lose their two best prospect but marchand is a great piece. i'd probably do it but it's gonna kill the avs in 3 year or so.

This is in 2023. Marchand is coming off of double hip surgery and will be 35 years old. Hall will be 31 and healthy. In general Marchand is the better player by a landslide but with that context Id rather trade for Hall

I thought Marchand was coming off LIP surgery. Thanks for the clarification.

Please name players who’ve not come back after double hip surgery? Would love to know anyone of Marchand’s caliber and durability to not come back.

P.s. did you not see him at Krejci’s wedding? A few months in (and a little booze), he looked no worse for wear. In fact, he’s probably better now than he’s been the last 2-3 seasons.

How many points did he put up with 2 bum hips?
