But Tyler Myers is worth 2 1sts and Miller is worth Dobson + picks

Canucks are basically guaranteed to get better unless Miller is traded. Canucks played at a 100+ point pace after Boudreau took over. They went from 8-15-2 in their first 25 games, to 40-30-12 after 82. Our biggest weakness was the penalty kill. We were actually a top 5 team in even strength goals against and save percentage (God bless Demko). With Lazar and Mikheyev added to our PK, surely we get better results in that area. We should also be seeing bounce back seasons from players like Brock Boeser. Only scored 23-23-46 last year but was clearly going through personal matters (dad slowly dying). This year is really dependant on whether or not the team shows up. If everybody plays like they have shown in the past, we are easily a top 10 team. If players have slumps again, we could very well be a bottom 10 team

The fact that he won the Calder and never won the Norris says a lot with his size and the skill he had back then

i could see the canucks doing better but i don't know about a top 10 team. i don't have a lot of faith in their defense.

I don’t know much about the Canucks and have watched them play but do they have solid defensive forwards besides Horvat?

I dont have too much faith in the defense either but somehow Demko managed keep things from falling apart last season. Crazy how a top 6 involving Myers, Poolman, Dermott, Burroughs, Hamonic can somehow let in the third fewest goals at even strength in the entire league

I took Demko in my pool with my third selection he better play well. I had Saros and Markstrom taken a few picks before but Demko was #3 on the list

horvat isn't a solid defensive forward, he's a gritty player and those players get reputations for being good defensively.

I guess Mikheyev now. Pettersson is also very good defensively. Always had good metrics until his slump this season. Has probably the highest hockey IQ on our team. Boeser also is pretty good two way forward, though his footspeed isnt the greatest. Hoglander in his rookie season was also good two way forward but really fell off a cliff last season. Vasili Podkolzin is also pretty responsible defensively but he is young so its not fair to depend on him in a defensive role. Overall we have more two way forwards than one might think. With the rise of guys like Pettersson, Horvat's defensive game as gone in a bit of a decline.

Depending on how you league determines points, I might have taken Markstrom just because how good Calgary's defense core is, especially with the addition of Weegar

The problem is that Vancouver is stacked . They really should trade a couple of forwards. Idk if Hoglander has waiver eligibility or not but in no way should they play Hoglander or Podkolzin on the 4th line

Is mayfield a capable 2nd pair guy ? Or is he just a decent 3rd ? Cuz is he just bottom pair cuz he’s playing behind Dobson and Pulock or is he actually a 3rd pair D

Pretty bad for Nucks, considering Mayfield's pending UFA

He's a #4 D, he plays some of the toughest minutes in the NHL and puts up pretty good results.

In the long run, the Canucks are likely not going to have Miller. I really wonder what we can get back for him. Unless Hoglander picks up his game, he is likely one the way out the door. Pearson is also a winger management will probably want to dump because he doesn't fit with our core.

If ALL goes to plan, this is our roster in 2 years from now:

Top 9 forwards:
Pettersson
Horvat
Boeser
Podkolzin
Kuzmenko
Hoglander
Garland
Karlsson/UFA or traded for 3C

Top 4 d-men:
Hughes
OEL
Rathbone
Top 4 RHD from trade or draft

Demko

Thats probably not how its going to go but thats just what I hope happens
