not sure what the avs plan is.

1. swing for the fences - kane/miller.
2. hoping for a specific player on wavier or on the cheap from a cap strapped team.
3. be the big guy in the room at deadline with double the cap space of other contenders.

I think they’re worried about what to do with the future of the franchise. Surely next year is a back to back attempt (hell of 2023 if we got Tampa-Tampa-Avs-Avs). But after and the finances are hairy.

True but Burakovsky at times was a healthy scratch at certain points and once Lehkonen came kind of sealed that fate. But I agree losing Kadri will be noticeable

yea i wont miss bura. he was the obvious cut. avs could try rants, compher, or newhook at 2c. newhook could be good to go but i figure one more season. stastny would have make a lot of sense for the avs.

Im gonna say it goes from 83.5mill to 88mill or in other words a 4.5mill increase, could be more but I dont think it will be less as media guys wouldnt be making such a big deal about it and if we look at expansion increases the last big jump was 4.5 mill between 2017 and 2018. Or heck maybe it goes up by 6.5mill like it was supposed to before the Pandemic came so 90mill in 2024

iirc the cap increased by an average of 4.5% year by year the seasons between the 12-13 lockout and the 19-20 pandemic, seems like a reasonable foundation to peg any future assumptions to.
Given that the league is projecting revenue at record levels for this season and onward, I could see the post 23-24 increase be around 4%.

4% increase (year by year) post 2024 will have the upper cap limit at the following amounts:
23-24 - 83 500 000
24-25 - 86 840 000
25-26 - 90 313 600
26-27 - 93 926 144
27-28 - 97 683 190

This 4% estimate may be a little bit conservative though.
Also it may not be a straight line increase either, more likely a smaller bump at 3.5-4% for the 24-25 season due to lingering escrow liabilities, to later stabilize at an average year by year increase closer to 5%.
