If a team is willing to give up a 1st and a 2nd for Hakanpaa and Glendening you say yes. Clears up cap space & Edmonton is way overpaying. No reason Dallas says no to this trade.

3 mil for Glen and Hank
2.75 for Fogele

250k saved but 1 roster player lost
Bring up Samo to replace Hank.
Down 500k

You can say yes, im still saying no

Stars will be fine wth their own draft picks.

You're talking about replacement level players. You wouldn't pay an additional $500K for to load up another 1st Round Pick and an additional 2nd? Those are essentially free draft picks. If Edmonton were dumb enough to offer this trade, I don't see any team in the league turning it down.

LOL, every single move you made has resulted in the team being worse. Why would you wish for that?

They wouldn’t offer this to begin with. Lol
How much do we pay for a replacement player for Hank? if Hank and Glen can return a player, prospect, a first and a second. Wont the team we are trading with ask for a similar return on a “replacement player”?

Honest question. How much money do you think the Stars have left over after signing Jake and Robo?

Also for this upcoming season, do you think Nill is more likely to trade for a playoff push, or is he more likely to trade to get more prospects?

Of course Edmonton wouldn't offer this deal to begin with. It's way too lopsided in Dallas' favor.

In regards to cap space, Dallas is about $700K shy of the $11M I'm expecting to see come out for Oettinger and Robertson. This money is easy to make up when you realize that Dallas has guys like Olofsson, Peterson, and Harley that are waiver-exempt. Dallas also has Kero who they could send to the AHL through waivers. Am I saying Dallas should send the first 3 to the AHL? No, but they can paper transaction them to the minors to start the year, just long enough to either put Khudobin on LTIR ($3.3M in cap relief), or send him to the AHL ($1.25M in cap relief). Leave Samurokov in the minors, call up Butcher (7th d), Harley, Peterson, and Olofsson. Gives you a 22-man roster with $760K in cap space, assuming you don't recall Kero

And of course Nill isn't going to gut the roster for draft picks, but you're acting like the Stars are giving up vital roster pieces here, when guys like Glendening and Hakanpaa are a dime a dozen. The question you should be asking is whether or not Nill would make a trade that has minimal impact on a playoff push WHILE also adding high value draft picks in return. The answer to that question is a resounding yes. Any GM would do that.
