1.
CAR
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Would need cap space but he could be worth a shot.
2.
VAN
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
Additional Details:
Sucks to lose Schenn and Hoglander but Lijegren could be a good add to the blue line
3.
VAN
  1. Durzi, Sean [RFA Rights]
LAK
This one’s a little more difficult. May involve a 3 way (possibly with Calgary) where Vancouver gives up Garland, Calgary gives up a LD and a pick (To VAN?), and LA gives up Durzi

Unless you can get LA a top-4 LD at $1M, you aren’t getting Durzi unless it’s an offer sheet:

Would a 4.2 million offer sheet get it done?

Most likely not. They can move Sean Walker and have enough money for Durzi. Also Quicks contract is off the books which leaves 6 million free for them to sign

And Chicago could take some cap back if you give them something extra

It’s possible, the Kings have Spence, Grans, and Clarke coming. But very unlikely

Imagine the blowback if Durzi didn’t fit your system and/or a bubble team Canucks miss the lottery and somehow won the draft lottery. You just overpaid for a young defenseman and lost a top pick in a deep draft to a division rival. Not to mention starting off with an offer sheet is not going to make you. Popular trade partner moving forward.

And there is no saying Durzi reups with Vancouver after.

Unlikely we move Quick, but even more unlikely a team offersheets Durzi.

It would only be a second. Vancouver could play into an offer sheet threat and say they offer sheet him or give LA a second and an extra 3rd or 4th to trade him

The Liljegren for Hoglander swap doesn't magically make more sense for the Leafs now than it did a couple days ago.

They still have Brodie, Holl, and Schenn to play right side with Niemela coming up in a year or two. Hoglander can play second line if Robertson fails

This is at absolute best an average right side and all three guys are over 30 and UFA's within 2 years - Holl and Schenn after this season - not great. Putting all your future eggs in one basket with Niemela is ridiculous. Hoglander has not proven to be a top 6 guy and there's no point in getting him to be a backup plan at the cost of a player who fills a current and future need. The swap does not make sense. Let it go.

Ambiguous reply as I’m ambivalent on Bear.

I think he could end up as a decent to good 2nd pair RD, just not with the Canes. He’s a luxury on the 3rd pair, especially when they have 2 other, young RDs in Coghlan and Chatfield, who could play 3rd pair minutes at a significantly cheaper rate.

He’s not horribly overpaid at $2.2M, but that same cap space could be used on a similarly aged/experienced LD that would suit the Canes current roster more effectively.

    So, a 3rd for Bear…meh, I’d take it.
