Oof... lundqvist Sanderson top 4 is such a bad idea.

Wouldn't give a 2nd for him. He's not a top 4 D addition, he'd be another guy fighting for a roster spot with Brannstrom, Thomson and Bernard-Docker.

Would be interesting to take a flier on him for cheap, but idk if he even beats out a guy like Lassi Thomson for a spot in camp. Certainly not paying big for him and handing him a top 4 job given where he's at in his career.

Especially paired with another rookie. For a cheap buy he he could pan out for a team. Think they are looking for a centre prospect.

I'm with y'all, what we really need is a defensive RHD like Tanev or DeMelo (sad), but with how much the D market has dried up I'd rather have to take a guy like Lundkvist than ice Zaitsev, Brannstrom, or even Thomson. Realistically Lundkvist, JBD, and Hamonic would all be fighting for that last 2nd pairing spot.

Which for Ottawa would probably mean Ostapchuk, and frankly idk if I do that.

I think Thomson is the best player of all the names you listed (not including Tanev and DeMelo obviously).

Really wish Ottawa picked up a guy like Ilya Lyubushkin. 2.75mil × 2 isn't hard to swing, and he'd have been a great DFD to stabilize things.

He hasnt played a single NHL game. Calling him "elite defensively" is purely a prediction. Defense take a very long time to develop neither of them will reach their true potential until at least 24-25

You could probably get Formenton done at that number for 3 years rather than 2

Sens have cap space this season. Wait the year and endure Zaitsev another season (as the 7th D-man), pays his bonus on July 1st and dump the rest of the contract (2.5 M$) for minimal cost
