I'm inclined to accept this offer.

The 2nd + Bean being RFA gives us some flexibility for a player we aren't planning on keeping anyway. Our defense isn't supposed to be ready for another three or four years anyway so we can accept a tiny bit worse this year, we're still way better than last season.

Toronto would be in the same boat cap-wise if they took Bean at 2 x $2.33 though, wouldn't they?

Yeah, but at $2.33 mil (More than Sandin *should* get), Toronto will be around $3.79 mil over the cap, which would mean they need to move at least 2 players out (assuming Kerfoot/someone), which would leave them with a 21 man roster. Not sure that's really worth it for a LD that would be 6th/7th on their depth chart.
