Nashville trades a proven 20 goal scoring power-forward soon to be RFA for an unproven Robertson.

Nashville passes.

Absolutely agree. Not many players combine physicality and shooting like Jeannot.

Gee, the Leafs would much better off keeping Sandin and the picks rather than trading for 3.5m Edmundson. Why don't folks appreciate Muzzin's NTC and other teams (in this case Washington) cap.

Caps have no cap space and no need for Muzzin. He's not Jumping Fehervary or Orlov in DC and his NTC probably would stop him from coming to Washington anyway.

-Nashville says no. Everything they've done this summer screams "win now" so I can't see them all of a sudden trading a guy who just scored 24 goals on an $800K contract for a 21 year old who's played 65 combined games over the past 2 seasons and hasn't established himself as an NHL player yet.

-If Max Pacioretty (1x$7M) had to have a decent roster player stapled to him to get his cap off Vegas' books, why is Washington paying anything to take on 2x$5.625M of Jake Muzzin? And that's before we get to the NTC that keeps the hometown boy in Toronto.

-After two trades that are super generous to Toronto, this is a ton of whiplash. Edmundson is a totally cromulent player. This is the kind of package you send out for a no-doubt, top pair kind of guy. Sandin is still young and might not progress above a bottom pair guy, but he's clearly an NHL player - and throwing in a 1st and a 3rd? Dubas would get a parade down St. Catherine if he offered this trade to the Habs.

I once had a trade with Jeannot for Nylander. He is what the leafs need but that's not even close to what he's worth.

Jeannot looks pretty good (and im not saying that nashville would make this trade or that he isnt worth it or whatvet) But I think people really need to lower their expectations of the guy. He's 25 years old with barely over a single NHL season played and he's shot something like 20%. Unless he's gonna be a historically accurate shooter that's gonna come down by a good hunk.

Agreed on that - he's probably a 15-20 goal guy this year, which is still a bargain at $800K. I just think that Nashville would be more likely to stick with the guy they *know* is ready to play NHL minutes every night than roll the dice with a 21 year old who'd played 16 NHL games over the past 2 years - that team has a ton of dudes in the 28-33 year old range so I think they're less interested in cashing in their guys for future assets right now.

oh for sure, teams would have to over pay for him that's for sure, but some of the trades for him have been hilarious

You don't need to be ridiculous in order to make a point that he's overpaying for him
