Why would Colorado give up a 23 year old no.3 Dman signed to a good contract for 5 years, for one year of Sanheim? The difference in term makes this a non-starter.

Partly cap savings and two (albeit midlevel) prospects coming off solid seasons, to replenish COL system, (Avon had a big year in the Q, 68 pts in 64 games, 19 yrs old and wylie had 18 pts in 65 games in his rookie AHL season, a RD to replace Helleson and Baron). Also Byram and Toews can play 1LD and 2LD and Sanheim is a great 3LD.

Its a light deal from PHI, but COL won the cup without Girard and I think he'll be moved, but again maybe PHI has to add a bit more.

Girard might be moved, bit this return is awful. If he gets moved a 2C needs to be coming back, or at least a haul of futures with actual value. Trading Girard also gives Toews a bunch of leverage as an UFA in 2024 and the Avs could be without a top 4 LHD if he walks after trading Girard.

I do like Sanheim though and think he'd fit well in Colorado. This value is bad though.

I truly wish it were possible that Hextall would move Kapanen.

It's just not happening unfortunately. He just re-signed him to a two-year extension, so Kap has at least one full season of rope before we can start dreaming of a trade.

I think the GMRH & Kasperi KAPANEN relationship is like the Dom SIMON w/ HCMS

Yeah, I don't know what to make of it. If he wanted Kap back so badly, then fine, but at least do a one-year bridge deal. The two biggest missteps for Hexy this off-season is Kap and Rutta.

I know it was to avoid arbitration, and Kapanen got no raise, the trade off was two years, but PIT could use some grit and cap space, and PHI loves the Kapanen name.

2 things:

-Phi isn't getting Girard for a rental and trash

-In everything you've seen Phi do when evaluating dmen what makes you ever think they would target Girard??

I mean if he can bounce back then I would be fine with keeping him for another year.

Obviously the hope is he finds his touch.
