That would be tough to match I think for NYR. I’d be a bit hesitant to trade a top 5 pick in this years draft. It would also give them 3 more years of an ELC contract and would allow them to sign Kane on a 3 year deal or something. So maybe they see this as Lafreniere for top 5 pick and Kane plus a few later round picks.

Interesting proposal. I think the habs say no though. While Lafreniere is enticing, this draft is insane and getting this wrong would be awful. Lafreniere probably doesn’t go top 3 in this years draft (Bedard , Mitchkov, Fantilli)
