Canes tell you to pound sand. Need a 3rd minimum, drop Dickinson. This isn't enough to eat the Dickinson deal straight up.

The notion that the Canes would take on yrs of a player making MORE per yr than Bear is absurd.

Bear outproduced Dickinson in less games AS A DEFENSEMAN.

The Canes have no need to trade Bear. They want to, they don’t need to. They’re cap compliant with him on roster. There needs to be incentive to trade him.

I think the point being made by the poster is that a trade between the Canes and Nuks is unlikely.

Comments about nobody wanting Bear and Dickinson, pounding sand and values being off do not matter.

Both sides need a cap neutral or cap beneficial deal which makes any deal challenging.

Except Vancouver want Bear. Allvin seems to want Bear, that we know. That's why these have come up. Allvin and Dorion want Bear. A cap neutral deal can be had, but for Carolina to take Dickinson, Vancouver would need to add a lot. A 3rd for Bear has been the going rate, and I'd not be willing to take on Dickinson for anything less than a second in addition. If that comes in the form of a 1st, I'd take that, but Dickinson barely got to 10 points in 60 games as a forward.

There was a ‘going rate’ for Bear?

Said with such conviction that I almost believe you…

If there was a 3rd on the table for Bear, he would have likely been traded before the $2.2x1 deal was signed.

If Hoglander is so close to Bear why trade for Hoglander then?

Clearly, you're not really serious about a trade for Bear. I understand. It's okay to just walk away. That's the only reasonable option here from a Canes perspective.

There is no way Carolina even touches this trade, if we want Bear it needs to be either for a 3rd straight up or a trade of Hoglander for Bear and a pick

I think a fair deal is Pearson $500k retained for Bear.

See I've been as guilty as anyone here jumping on the bandwagon for "Bear for a 2nd or a 3rd and we're done". I think I may have been too short-sighted. The longer this plays out the more I suspect the Canes FO is interested in getting more out of this trade. That's why I think a deal for Hoglander would make sense. Bear and a pick could get it done. Which pick is up for debate. But I don't think this is the same situation as the Jake Bean deal from last year. I think that is the thought template.

Dickinson is a negative asset at this point - 2x$2.65M with 11 points in 62 GP last year is not a contract that any team is looking to willingly take on right now. The 4th would barely cover the cost of dumping him at this point so Vancouver would also need to add the actual asset they're trading for Bear to make this deal work.
