You saved the Leafs cap by trading Kerfoot ( I don't think he gets that return or waives to Winnipeg) then you ruin the cap again by making that unnecessary trade for Chychrun, for three NHLers and three picks

yup.

The 1st rd pick is likely 25+

Sandin is a middling prospect who can't break a terrible defensive corps, so he likely wouldn't thrive in the desert either.

The rest is just cap dumping of players nobody wants.

While it's a bad offer calling Toronto's d-core terrible is just completely wrong.

agree to disagree.

Brodie is a 2nd pairing guy on any team in the league, and Reilly is a top pairing guy, IMO everyone else (Holl, Gio, Lil, Muzz) is a 3rd pairing guy or 7th D on the majority of teams in the league.

Brodie is a solid #2/3 and same with Muzzin (when healthy). Gio was literally a serviceable 1st pair defenseman as recent as last year and Liljegren took major strides in his development last year. Holl is a serviceable #5/6

a lot of ifs, there... Gio is a guy who can fill in, but I can't see him, with age (despite being in great shape) continuing that level of play over prime mins and 82 games.

Lil is still a work in progress, but likely wouldn't crack most NHL teams top-4 (yet), and Holl is still a bottom pairing guy.

Muzz is a shell of the player he was in LA, his mobility is suffering year on year, guy is likely the next LTIRetired player

I still think that Toronto's d-core is subpar compared to most NHL teams.

Verbeek would ABSOLUTELY make that trade, Robertson has top line potential, Jones is locked into his bottom 6 spot at this point.
