I would try and trade Brannstrom, the 2024 Washington 2nd and maybe another asset for a young righty d man from LAK. Spence or Durzi if possible.

Chychrun is an LD. Sounds like they’ll get him, but that would mean they need to move one of him, Chabot, or Sanderson to the right side either this year or next

Except Ottawa has 0 stay at home RHD. Hamonic and Zaitsev are #6D at best

Tampa made Luke Scheen and Zack Bogosian look elite. Again all about deployment. Taking a swing at Sean Walker aint too bad of an idea as well.

Schenn and Bogo were serviceable 3rd pair guys, and they never seemed elite. Their numbers were average at absolute best.
Now if Thomson and JBD develop well then things might get interesting, but for now if I’m Ottawa I would target a RD

The idea Chychrun is an elite defender is ridiculous. He hasn’t proven that at all. Had great numbers during the Covid shortened season. Seems like an outlier.

Your top 6 is solid, maybe even elite. Pinto may be, too. Chabot and Zub are top quality. Sanderson may be top quality soon, too. Progress is a matter of developing depth, and patience.

And No, we won't be trading Sean Walker for a measly future fourth, or anytime soon at all -- if he fills the hole at #2LD.

I’m not gonna lie — I am surprised that LAK hasn’t done anything to improve their left side. It’s an ok unit, but I’m not sold on Edler and Bjornfoot as the 2nd/3rd pair options.

I remember when Bjornfot-Doughty was a thing . Does he not look like an nhl defenceman at this point ?
