Pens are over the cap at the moment. Every trade has to be a dollar in dollar out situation.

I'm in the minority here, but I'd consider the Sabres trade. We don't need left d, but I kinda like the idea of getting tougher on d. Plus a second round pick.

There's really no motivation for the Jets to give away Dubois or Wheeler next year.

Honestly, I agree with you. You look at what DeBrincat went for this year and I can say that no one on this site knows value. To me DeBrincat and Dubois are the same and he was stolen by Ottawa.

I just want to see the young kids play. I feel like we have a really good young core and if we give them 2 years to play the NHL game, maybe we can keep Conner and Ehlers for a bit longer.

At the end of the day, stripping Wheeler of the C is kind of the writing on the wall that he will likely be moved. Could we get more? Maybe if we eat cap, but I am not sure what the return would be. I could be a homer and overvalue him, but the fact is guys are being traded for much less than I would've thought.

I can understand where you're coming from and the frustration. However, you can't really use Debrincat's trade to value anything. Chicago was committed to blowing it up and didn't wasn't to pay Debrincat's QO or what he would want for a contract. Dubois isn't in that situation.

You can never base values on the worst case scenario where all agree one team was obviously taken.

I love making Wheeler trades on this site, but Im pretty sure he isn't going anywhere. I think he'd be gone already. Maybe next year or TDL next year. Jets would be dumb to deal PLD IMO, He's good and is under team control for 2 seasons. Deal him only if the package is a no brainer.
Im a little bit of a positive Pete, but Im happy with the jets roster right now. I would like to see a Kerfoot like addition to the top 9 and a d man or two be shipped out to free up spots, but overall Im fine
