Love Brock, truly do. But he wanted a bigger role he wasn’t going to get in Carolina, and now he is overpaid. Canes aren’t giving up a great prospect just to get a guy back whom the Pens overpaid.

I'm not too sure on any of these.
Don't know why Carolina would want McGinn back at that price.
Vilardi and Grundstrom probably have more upside than the package they're getting, but I'm far from an expert on LA's youth.
DiPietro doesn't seem like that necessary of an aquisition considering we have Lindberg and Blomqvist in the system and Lindberg looks to be capable of the role you're getting DiPietro for.

@Haymaker is absolutely right. Grundstrom is ahead of Hallander in development, and there's no sign that Hallander has a higher upside; Vilardi clearly has a higher upside than either Joseph or Gruden and higher value than them put together. The Penguins don't have the top-4-right-now LhD that we'd be interested in trading that package for.

I’m back!!! I like to make comments that have been made by other commenter already regarding Brock and Patches not being on LTIR.

Here is what would need to be added for the Canes to make this trade;

Martinook added from Canes side
McGinn retention added to make his AAV 1.8m
Downgrade prospect quality
Pens would need to find a taker for Ethan Bear

1) Carolina don't have the cap. Pacioretty will be activated in Feburary. Not out for the year

2) Heimosalmi is worth a lot more than an overpaid Brock McGinn. you can have him as part of a package of futures for a guy like Crosby or Guenztel if you want instead

3) No, thank you. Carolina has Stastny, Kase, Fast, Martinook to do what McGinn did. Don't need McGinn.

I thought 67 & 51 was out for year, My fault.
& everything I read on Heimosalmi was that he has fallen way down in ur loaded Prospect Cupboard after bad yr BUT I absolutely loved him in his Draft yr.

Well for the last 2yrs we have been stuck w/ our #3 Goalie in the Playoffs or as a back-up we couldn't put in, like Legace & last yr..... So was just getting more depth this time
