Jackets simply can't move tarasov

• CBJ have invested three first-round picks on defensemen in the past two drafts: Corson Ceulemans at No. 25 in 2021, and David Jiricek at No. 6 and Denton Mateychuk at No. 12 this summer. It won’t be long before they’re claiming NHL roster spots, even if one of them is included in the trade.

• Chychrun (left shot) has played mostly on the left side in the NHL. He’d be an instant upgrade to the overall unit, sure, but somebody in the top four would have to move to the right side. Not ideal.

• His injury concerns are real. Beyond the ankle and wrist work this summer, he’s had both ACLs repaired and a shoulder surgery to fix a torn ligament. That’s a lot of work for a player who doesn’t turn 25 until March.

Someone is going to overpay for him (good for you, ASU!), but I do not want it to be CBJ.

Why can they not? Genuinely curious

They have no goalie depth. Its elvis and an injured korpisalo. They are also very very high on tarasov as a threat for the starting job

Do you really need him?
Rather find a center, even if you have overpay for him.

Korpi is still recovering from hip surgery, and is questionable to start the season, so CBJ need depth. Tarasov is our #2 right now. Plus, org is high on his future, see him as a 1A/1B with Elvis in the near future.
