Time To Break Up the Band

Created by: Wulfgar85
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 29, 2022
Published: Oct. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's time the Leafs break up the band. Marner would fetch a great package. I'm tired of the status quo. This really has nothing to do with this season, but rather the whole core 4 time period. I was a believer of Dubas and and Shanny plan, but is clearly not working. I'm choosing to move Marner as my Major piece. This is nothing against Marner, I just believe he or Matthews would get us the better Package. Since Marner is the winger he gets the short stick.

Also the team and players I trade Marner is irreverent.

This is what type of package I would be looking for.

2 first rd
A affordable winger who can play in the top 6 now.
Top 4 D man preferably RD.
And Grade A prospect.

This is going to be the first of many breaking up the band Teams. Most will center around Moving Mitch Marner, who for the record is currently one of my favorite leafs behind JT and Rielly
Trades
TOR
  1. Domi, Max
  2. Jones, Seth ($2,000,000 retained)
  3. Korchinski, Kevin
  4. 2023 1st round pick (CHI)
  5. 2024 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
I siad it didn't matter what team I choose but the Hawks would work out as a pretty good trade partner. Also I should mention that for this trade. Kane has already been traded from the Hawks to cup contender for a similar package as Marner. Which is why the Hawks can make this trade.
CHI
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
Holl is for the 4th Rd pick

Hawks would never make that trade. They are embracing a full rebuild and are not trading prospects or picks for players that won't be around when they are competitive again.

Marner should not be the one getting moved.

So far of the 4 Marner and Tavares are the only 2 good looking ones

Nylander is just being Nylander rn so k we can explore a 1 for 1 with him

The main concern is Matthews. He looks lost out there.

Chicago is in no position to give up multiple 1st round picks.

Did you even read anything. Also I know the Hawks are rebuilding, but even a rebuilding team needs good player. Also Marner is only 25 he still has a lot of hockey left. Also the Hawks have a ton of picks a a deep prospect pool do they could give that up and it wouldn't put a dent in their future. And they will be getting a great package for Kane.

Why trade Kane for a package, and take Marner? He's only 25 but he has a huge contract and only 3 years left. They are better off drafting guys with ELC. Kane will be returning a smaller package vs what they give up.

If anything they should trade back for DeBrincat if they are in a playoff spot and OTT is out for a 1st+2nd+3rd, UNO reverse.

You clearly know very little about the hawks situation yet you act like a pro. Hawks have a lot of depth defense prospects. 1 high end D prospect in korchinski. Hawks have maybe 3 forward prospects all together. They just traded debrincat who is arguably just as good as marner. No they would never even think about this deal.

Marner would have to be traded to a contending team. Not Chicago..

Mitch Marner should be the last player that Kyle Dubas trades.

And there's no way that Kyle Davidson is eating $16,000,000 on Seth Jones for the next 8 years.

Agree with everything you just said except take it easy on the Debrincat as good as Marner... There is a sizeable difference between those two players and that is no disrespect at all to Debrincat

No one would retain 2 million for 8 years.

Also, horrible trade for toronto

Edit: unless those picks are unprotected

Debrincat is a fine player, but he is a notch below marner

You are right I don't know much about the Hawks. They were honestly the first team I choose. Also Marner is a borderline line superstar in the nhl
debrincat is a great player but he is not on Mariners level.

I seeing a lots of comments on the Jones thing. I honestly did not realize he was in the first year of his contract I thought he was closer to the end. So that is my mistake

I'm not talking about his NMC.
I am saying you can't trade Marner to rebuilding teams because they don't want to trade futures and top prospects for a player who is gonna walk in 2.5 years when they aren't ready to win yet anyway

I can't see any team in their right mind giving up that much for 3 years of a heavily overpaid complimentary winger with an NMC starting next year. I'd imagine the Leafs are stuck with him.

I will agree to disagree, I think that Marner should be the first player move. Again this is nothing against Marner, I think he is a hell of a hockey player, but the goal win the cup. Sometimes you have to move you're best player.

I'm not even going to try and have a reasonable conversation with you. Anyone who calling Marner a overpaid ccomplimentary player is just clearly trying to troll

You honestly think that this is a great haul for Mitch Marner? Seth Jones is so overrated it isn't funny. Domi+Jones and i got news for you, Chicago isn't trading a 2023 1st round pick that could land them Connor Bedard.

The Blackhawks pick this year year would obviously be lottery protected.

Also it's not so much about the players I choose for Marner but the package. Which I mentioned

It's
2 1st
Top 6 winger
Top 4 D( but like a really good top 4 D, not a guy like Holl)
Top grade A prospect

Yeah I realized that now, but I'm not making changes. I really just came here tonight because it's been a tough go in real life atm. I needed people to talk hockey with.

You may not like my trade, but I've enjoyed this little banter back and forth. I won't entertain the trolls, I have no time for that, but you sir I will talk hockey anytime, have a great night

I read the description, that trade makes zero sense for Chicago and is terrible for them.

Marner while a great player would be difficult for a lot of teams to fit due to his cap hit, could see him being a fit in NJ and a big trade there possible but in reality Marner isn't getting traded, maybe Nylander gets dealt but even that seems unlikely.
