Description
Disclaimer: Habs fan here, but I'd like to see the Leafs bring a cup back to Canada

Habs have been through this before and can offer some perspective. General managers who are too close to their coaches tend to have a hard time letting them go. Bergevin held onto Michel Therrien way too long and alienated a whole bunch of Habs players and he did it for 75% of our season.

Your problem is not your players, it's your coach. Keefe has been an offense-first coach for as long as he's been with the Leafs and now he's trying to get the team to play a defensive-stlye. The players are not buying in.

They DO need to play better defensively to win in the playoffs, but the players all know the GM/Coach are fired if this year goes badly and some of them are thinking about their next contracts.

I do think one of Marner or Nylander needs to get traded for a power forward. You will lose in skill, but you will get back a player who can score and push the other team around. Plus you can move some of that money onto defense or onto your other lines.

For Josh Anderson, the request would be a first-round pick + a good prospect in attack

I think the Habs would take Nylander back and maybe add to get the deal done. Marner is the better player, but his salary is way off our salary range.

I'd rather try to get Jeannot from Nashville. Say Robertson 2023 first and 2 3rd rounders. Jeannot -Matthews-Marner. Then move Kerfoot and 2024 first for Scott Laughton. Just a thought. 3rd line Laughton-Kampf-Jarnkrok. Knies-Tavares- Nylander when Knies is done with NCAA season. 4th line ?

He's a fine player, but:

-Nashville play in a weak division and they want to win now
-208 pounds vs 235 pounds, I think you need a 6' 4" powerhouse

Just my opinion but Jeannot is not gonna work out.

I don't think Anderson is worth 7m a season and he is injury prone. imo

I would go with Kerfoot (3.5M) and Holl (2.0M), and then build the trade on what we get in return for Anderson.

Leafs should also consider adding Pezzetta to this trade.

Not sure why the Leafs would trade for either Jeannot or Anderson, when Knies will be part of the team soon enough.

Makes no sense to downgrade Nylander to Anderson, and trading Robertson or anyone for Jeannot who will need a bigger contract will lead to other complications.

7m was probably his salary from last year or this year.

Slow? He's probably among the fastest skaters in the league.

No Habs fan should want the 'Leaves' to bring a cup to Canada, if anything it should be Edmonton to do it if not the Habs themselves!

His salary this year is 7m, I just checked it now, so he will be making 7m. Wiki displays the players salaries usually and not cap hit.

Oh... Like actual salary, not cap-hit? Who cares about that other than the owners and agents?

Not hockey fans but Wikipedia does since I guess that's in-line with putting peoples' estimated net worth. I feel like they could just put the guys entire contract details instead.
