I’m not sure how they could shake up that defence. Reilly is untouchable, muzzin and Brodie both have 10 team no trade list, which you could assume they are the top 10 worst teams let’s just say, So the other 22 teams are most likely competing for the playoffs and no team that wants to compete is spending 5 mil on muzzin or Brodie. Giordano is expendable but on the contract he has and his leadership, I doubt they consider moving him, no team in the nhl wants holl unless he’s making league minimum. I guess you could trade timothy or sandin but they are both on cheap contracts and they both contribute so I don’t see a reason to trade either one, so how do you shake up this d core?

Oh look, for the 13,784th time in Armchair GM, the Leafs have traded for Tom Wilson. You guys gotta stop man, it's absolutely not happening and it's getting ridiculous lmfao

I can live with that, I wasn’t sure what people would think because I haven’t seen much Marcus foligno trades so I decided to wise a first as a starting base and see what people think

I wasn’t thinking about this from a cap’s perspective and this isn’t meant to be realistic. I’m simply listing a trade that would help the leafs in getting better so chill out

Most of this is irrelevant, because you have Mete, Liligren, and Holl as your 3 RDs in this scenario, while you are trading forward assets for... other forwards? Because that keeps working for TOR. Why wouldn't you trade the forwards for other defensemen and trade/bench/waivers/AHL some of these people?

5million dollars is an absolutely fine contract for Muzzin and Brodie... I don't understand that point? A standard NHL defenseman is 4million dollars, and I think they both bring different intangibles to be worth an extra million or whatever it is a piece. Besides the fact again, that RD is terrible in your scenario and you are trading forwards for forwards......

The sentiment is correct... Wilson and Foligno are exactly what the Leafs need, toughness with the ability to contribute as depth scoring. However, giving up Nylander for Wilson is overkill and a 1st rounder for Foligno is also steep. Leafs can't afford to give up draft picks. But you're thinking in the right direction.... just wish Dubas would.

Foligno would be a great add for TOR, and probably costs a 1st and a 2nd and maybe a bit more, hes solid and on a good contract with 2 yrs left, but only if Nylander moves to LW and Foligno plays 2nd line. But not really sure he fixes what isnt working with TOR.

To me, its partly Keefe's system, its partly that IMO the defense and goaltending are worse, the fill-ins in Malgin, Engvall, ZAR are below average and worse than prior seasons. A few moves for smaller cap hits doesn;t really address the team structure issue, that theres almost 65mil tied up in 4 forwards, 2 below average goalies and 3 struggling dmen, leaving just 17 mil for the other 13 players, and not enough quality throughout entire lineup or in the system ready to contribute.

You also weren't thinking about it from Minnesota's perspective. Their gm turned down a 1st round pick for foligno when Minnesota was bad in his 1st year and gave foligno a 3 Years extension! They aren't breaking up their grief line. Foligno will absolutely no be traded no matter what especially with kaprizov here

There's a reason why. Their gm is Bill Guerin . He loves player's like him and give him , much like Hartman and Greenway new contracts
