Very original comment. This team beats the current team 10/10 times and is better moving forward. There are overpays here for sure but that's what you have to do to get deals done these days

This team doesn't win anything. Just the usual nonsense. That Calgary trade is the worst thing I have ever seen.

This makes the team worse now and in the future in every way possible. There is no debate

You must not have ever played a game in your lives. Just another bunch of keyboard warriors haha. This makes them way harder to play against, better, and provides you with a shutdown pair if you wanted to use them that way.

Shutdown?? You're trading your best future LD and a 5th for a bottom pairing guy who can't play defense and just hits. Not to mention he is overpaid as well lmao.

You think Sandin is going to be our best dman at any point? Come on if not next year the year after Niemela will be better and with Knies coming in it is better to get something for the guys that will be on the outside looking in.
That's why he has been a plus player in almost every single year he's played? WE don't need any more small skilled D men. We need tough to play against solid d that can make good first passes out of our zone and are hard to play against. Instantly makes this team better.

That Nashville deal just doesn’t work for NSH. We don’t want a mid tier rental and a third for a guy that has been one of our best players this year. Makes no sense

I think that will come down to what happens over the next few weeks, I understand what you mean but if they continue not to play well they might want an expiring contract and a pick in a very good draft while they re-tool. Not sure what it would take to get the deal done but Nino is only signed for 2 years.

1. Niemela doesn't play the left
2. +/- is not a valid stat for defense
3. You're getting rid of Nylander, our best player so far this year, for scraps
4. Leafs are competing this year, keep Kerfoot

Minnesota declines on cap alone. They also aren't trading their cheap good players under multi year contract for 1.5 year of Nylander

LOL happyhappy one says scraps one says good players. It's hilarious. To be fair I think it's a good deal for both sides, gives you young talent that you can hope to sign long term. To me you guys need a little more skill and we need good players that can play physical.

We have a SURPLUS of LD we NEED RD. So yeah I'm fine making that trade. +/- is literally THE stat for D because that is the definition of their job. To help score more goals than they allow. IT is not a D mans job to score goalies. It is to prevent them.
Kerfoot is a good player but he has no role on this team, he doesn't fit other than being a really good PKer. You trade him to get something for him and use his cap hit to get something else either this year or next year when he would walk anyway.

-Both sides decline this. Calgary is planning on contending this year and I can't see them subtracting from one of their biggest strengths without being blown away. Sandin has great upside, sure, but it's not worth messing with what's working for the Flames. I'm also confused - you say down thread that Toronto's issue is a surplus of LHD and not enough RHD, and you just swap out one for another? Why wouldn't you deal from surplus to fill a need and send Sandin out for someone who can play the right side?

-This doesn't make a ton of sense for me on the Wild's end - they're in a bad cap situation because of the Parise/Suter buyouts, and I think it makes more sense for them to keep a 30 goal scorer making $1.7M (Hartman) and part of what I'd consider their identity/energy line(Greenway). They're taking on $2.2M extra AAV here and turning 2 top-9 forwards into one - even if Nylander is the best player in the deal, I don't think it's a move I can see the Wild making.

-Why would Nashville do this? They literally just signed Niederreiter to a 2x$4M deal this summer and he's got 5 goals in his first 10 games. I'd have to think they're incredibly happy with that deal so far even if they've struggled out of the gate so far.

-I don't see enough here for Seattle to give up a top-4 Dman (also fwiw, another LHD). Holl & Engvall are both pending UFAs that don't profile as long-term pieces for that team. Robertson is an okay prospect, but a 4th rounder isn't enough for them to give up Oleksiak in this deal - this is a classic quantity over quality deal.

I like how everyone piles on the Leafs lousy defence. (13th in GAA) Then the answer seems to be acquiring middling Dmen from teams who have worse GAA than the Leafs.

Subtraction by subtraction.

Also I just want to point out that your comment about how you know what an NHL team in 2022 needs has nothing to do with playing (apparently) in the OHL. Joe Nieuwendyk was an amazing player. How did he do as a gm? Your argument is as relevant as which hand I use to wipe with. So maybe try allowing others to share their constructive opinions on here without being the true keyboard warrior.

I use toilet paper by the way. Not my hands.
