Cam Fowler has a 4 team trade list, Pretty much guarantee you Toronto isn't one of those 4 teams.

Why would the Leafs give anything for high price mediocrity.

Kerfoot...better than Comtois
Fowler OK, but not at 6.5m
Next season, the Leafs are millions times better off not having the middling value of Comtois and Fowler at 8.8, and having Sandin at 1.4m and 7.4m in cap and their first rounder. Kerfoot and Engvall will gone as UFAs.
Even this year Comtois and Fowler at 8.6m and third player for replacing Engvall 9.5m. ...Sandin, Kerfoot and Engvall total 7m...then the Leafs have another 2.5m for another player

Kerfoot isn't worth his contract right now, and the ducks already have a swiss army knife player, and he walks at end of year anyway, this is purely cap dump
Engvall is a piece I am interested in, but with no team control, he is effectively cap dump unless he comes with an extension in place.
Sandin has promise, but so do multiple other LD that the Ducks have in the same age as him (Zellwegger, Mintyukov, Thurn, LaCombe)
and a late 1st

Asking for a young, physical winger that we like and has scoring finish, if inconsistent at times, but has looked good this season.
The only veteran defenseman we have signed next season who has been with the team his entire career, whom still plays well, and has a 4 team trade list

Sure, the value may be there on paper with Sandin + 23 1st, but the deal still doesn't make sense for the Ducks, as its not giving us things that we actually need, and is depleting us in areas we can't afford to get carved out on. You want our young power forward in Comtois, then we need one back, it'll cost you Knies. You want our top pairing Defenseman, Thats going to take a 1st and Kokkonen, plus a warm body on D that can take decent minutes, Benn will probably do. After that, you can throw in Engvall and Kerfoot as cap dump.

Comtois and Fowler for Knies, Kokkonen, 23 1st, warm bodies/cap dump, assuming all trade protection clauses can be met.

This trade doesn't make sense for either side.

On the Anaheim end, the Ducks wouldn't trade Cam Fowler even if he had NO no-trade clause, because otherwise the Ducks wouldn't have a single veteran defenseman under contract for next season. And the four teams he has on his "okay-trade" list are almost certainly four of Detroit, Colorado, Las Vegas, Tampa and Florida. As to Max Comtois, it never makes sense to trade a player at his lowest value. As far as the return for those two, Kerfoot and Engvall are rentals, and thus have no value whatsoever to the rebuilding Ducks, while Sandin and the first are nice but simply insure that without Fowler, Anaheim's window will open one further season down the road.

As to Toronto, my friend @palhal is absolutely right when he says that the Maple Leafs will be better off in 2023-2024 with Sandin, their first and the cap space that Fowler and re-upping Comtois would consume. And trading Kerfoot for a third and Holl for a fifth and then packaging those picks with other assets for a 2023 second or maybe even a 2023 first (with the right add[s]) would go a lot farther than Comtois and Fowler will a couple of years down the road.

Too bad that isn’t the offer that’s on the table.

I'm completely fine with you not liking the trade offer that's fine. But this - "Kerfoot isn't worth his contract right now" has to stop. It's madness. An unnamed forward who can capably play anywhere in the top 9 as a complimentary piece, centre or wing, who put up 51 points last year, 47 at even strength, is ABSOLUTELY worth 3.5m, especially on an expiring deal. Just because Leaf fans put him in too many proposals, or fans dislike Leaf players, doesn't make it true.

I'll give you Engvall for a bag of pucks. He plays a foot smaller and 50 pounds lighter. I believe he has the IQ of a piece of wood. IDK why he was resigned maybe him and Dubass have a little something going on behind closed doors.

Fowler OK, but not at 6.5m

While I agree with what you said overall, this bit sticks out. You are seriously underrating Cam Fowler as he's worth every penny of that 6.5M AAV. Put him on any good team that isn't as terrible as the Ducks for the past 3+ seasons and you'd see that straight away. Watch Lindholm play in Boston, it's the same thing.
