Hanifin for Nylander ideally once Kylington Returns

Created by: KingofRnR
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 6, 2022
Published: Nov. 6, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don’t really want to give up Dube, could send Toffoli instead, but Toffoli’s still better than Dube and with Zary, Pelletier & Coronato coming up soon and as long as we get a future Tanev replacement in Liljegren and Kerfoot fills his spot for the remainder of this year, I’d be okay with it

How far off am I!?

Not only are you asking for one of our best forwards, you also want us to add Liljegren? For another LD??? While retaining on Kerfoot????? I see absolutely zero incentive for the Leafs here

That's such a bad trade for Toronto. 3 roster players for 2, with 2/3 of the Leaf players being important parts of the now/future for 1 guy from CGY.

Send Hanifin+Lindholm for Nylander, package deal or nothing. On a serious note, Toronto needs RD so unless they are getting Andersson (and keeping Liljegren) there's no reason for them to trade Nylander.

A more realistic trade would have Toffoli+Anderson being traded for Nylander+Niemela as the main parts.
Calgary can replace Anderson internally, and Nylander is an upgrade for Toffoli. Andersson is exactly what the Leafs need and Toffoli would be a temporary replacement for Nylander in the top 6.

Leafs don't need a LHD. Leafs need the very good Nylander. Liljegren is an NHL Dman. Kerfoot needed at LW, and maybe centre this year.

Leafs are my number 1 team and Flames are my number 2 team. Nylander for Hanifin straight up is relatively equal in a vacuum. No way would i add Liljegren into any trade. In my opinion he is the most important blue liner for the future success of our team.

Hanifin = Nylander
Liljegren + Kerfoot 50% retained + opening up $2mil+ in Cap Space = Dube + Ruzicka + 6th

Dube replaces Kerfoot and Ruzicka allows Engvall to move back to LW

I’m sure Leafs Fans will want more, but Nylander is one-dimensional, Kerfoot is a Rental and we’re not moving our Top LD without getting a decent Young D-Man in Liljegren back in return

Leafs don't want to trade any of those players and you're not offering anything to entice them to. Hanifin is a great player. But the Leafs need RHD help, not LHD. And you have us giving up Liljgren in this deal, and retain on Kerfoot?

Not a chance.

Join the list I guess, lots of Teams wanting help at RD.

With Muzzin out again, I figured another Top-4 D-Man might be of interest and I read Leafs Fans wanting to dump Kerfoot all the time, but it’s all good, just an idea is all

Don't think you watch any Leaf or maybe even Flames games. Nylander one dimensional? Then what's Hanifan this season, one point, minus four....seems like no dimensions to his game this year. LHD and LWers are the easiest players to find. Leafs have three NHLers at LHD,
Ruzicka is a four/fifth liner....every team has those guys on their team or in the minors. Dube seems like an overpaid player. Leafs prefer Kerfoot on the ice and then next free year. 3.5m in cap. And you want to add Liljgren too? Wow, a total slanted trade in favour of the Flames without any consideration of the Leafs needs.

Ha! This coming from the guy who at one time wanted to waive Kerfoot and have him claimed by CGY for Cap Space and then when someone said you’d get value for him, wanted to dump him for a 3rd or 4th or whatever TOR could get from CAR. The exact same guy who wanted to send Nylander to ARI just to dump and get out of Mrazek’s contract

Thanks for posting your opinion Pal!

You're right, about my comments. But that was before the Leafs got a godsend in the LTIR to Murray and Murray. If those two hadn't been on on LTIR, yeah Kerfoot would likely been the sacrificial lamb. It seem impossible that the Leafs would have got outta Mrzarek's contract so easy. I was surprised. Gee look what the Flames had to give up to get rid of Monahan.
Mrzarek and Nylander had two years of cap for 10.8m per season to Arizona. Might have been good deal as the Leafs would add an additional 10m and would have kept their 1st rounder.
But Chicago saved the Leafs taking Mrzarek and I'm surprised and pleased that Nylander has really stepped up his game this season. He might be best Leaf this season.

Hanifin swap for Nylander would be the only part of this i would entertain, the Leafs have no need for the rest of the trade . I wouldn't even swap Hanifin for Nylander in our situation. I just think they have similar value if you ignore Hanifins slow start to the season.

Yeah, all good. Time & Circumstances definitely change things. I’m just frustrated with Hanifin and his poor start. I don’t actually believe Sutter would allow a Trade for Nylander. Just a thought and post for fun to burn off some steam

Can’t win’em all… Besides, getting a win is extremely rare to do on this site lol. Take Care!

This Trade & that proposal in of itself is blatantly idiotic & Pointless, the only team that actually Improves here is Calgary. Leafs are up a creek without a paddle if they do this, No 2nd RW, no 2nd RD, no point or incentive to make this deal at all

You aren’t Getting Lilly, You Certainly aren’t Getting Knies & You are not EVER getting Willy, Hanafin isn’t a need at all,Top LD ain’t a hole in the line-up. Lilly is the most important blue liner for the future in TOR rn as well so this deal falls apart in every single aspect

Good Concept on Paper not in reality (no offence)
