I’d be interested to hear EDM fan’s thoughts on this. At least Toews can still play defense as a forward and could allow
EDM to line up a decent checking line.

Centers are the last thing Edmonton needs. They have McDavid - Draisaitl - McLeod.

Only if the Hawks are absolutely out of the hunt at the TDL... but could work for both teams

McLeod easily gets shifted to wing. J Toews is an elite faceoff man, and adding him will allow Draisaitl to rest more, they have him taking every important faceoff because their Cs just aren't that good in the circle.

That's just one benefit of adding Toews for the Oilers but there's more.

Toews has been awesome on offense this year as well. He's back

Play Drai on the wing (they've done it before), or make Toews the best shutdown 3C in the league

McLeod is their defensively elite 3C, and he’s 23 making league minimum

I’d wait for McLeod to show worse face off results until the TDL hits, if he’s still bad then I could actually see this now that I think about it, but I think Edmonton should run him for rn and hope for the best, he’s already elite defensively

Would be worth adding Toews for his clutch factor if not anything else though. The trade package though isn't worth it imo since I don't think Murphy is what the Oilers need.
