We have no reason to move Comtois for anything less than an unprotected 23 1st. Yes, we are aware that's well above market value. We have no reason to move him for market value, because we would rather have him than a 2nd round pick and some castoff from Toronto.

Counteroffer is Comtois for Knies and Robertson

Rebuilding teams like Anaheim don't want expiring free agents unless they're on the waiver wire or whose acquisition cost is positive (i.e., they're offered at a discount).

Bruins are not trading a d-man to the leafs who plan on using him in their top 4. Bruins don't make trades with the leafs anyways.

Comtois and Engvall both RFAs and have very similar production, I’m surprised that there was this much backlash on this trade

I mean Leafs could have had him for free and probably would have claimed him already if it wasn’t for being at max contracts. Leafs are doing Boston more of a favour here than the other way around lol.

Because Engvall is a UFA, not a RFA, and he's overpriced.
