How the Hell did we get Dach

Created by: OlegP
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 12, 2022
Published: Nov. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
He gets better every game. Looks like a legit star already! Just dummied Malkin, caused chaos in front of the net on Caufield goal, keeps plays alive all the time. I kept hearing he doesnt skate from Hawks fans. He's all over the ice, fast, quick decisions, puck protection. They just had to be patient and put him with talent in Chitown.
Trades
MTL
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Hoffman, Mike ($2,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Hoffman goals in 3 straight games. Confidence looks like it's back, he could have had a few more and looks feisty

Oilers aren't adding a pick but if MTL can do a 1 for 1, I like the move for them.

The Oilers can add about 2 million in cap with Kane on LTIR and they need about 5M pro rated cap hit around March to put Kaner back in the lineup. The pick doesnt have to be there but Jesse looks like a project at this point and with the Habs overcrowded wings, the Habs might prefer the pick over Pool Party. I rather see Ylonen in the lineup instead of Puljujarvi.

Danault to give up was really bad. Dach might be worse. Tho they dont get Dach without the Danault trade as the 2nd rounder from Chicago in said deal was Romanov. The irony! The gift that keeps giving.

Chicago was like hes not a good C cause he cant win faceoffs

Montreal okay we put him on wing

How ****ing simple can you make it. Chicago should have just made Dach a 2nd line wing for them

But then again their rebuild strategy has been just weird

Chicago's reasoning for not keeping him at center was stupid, but trading him was not a bad idea. Chicago is entering a 5 year rebuild. Dach turns 22 in January, by the time Chicago will be ready to contend he'll be exiting his prime.

Also Nazar will be a top 5 talent from the draft IMO, so it should work out for them.

Hoffman has been hot lately, but overall in the last couple of years he hasn't been good enough. I believe the Oilers would rather just take a 2nd or 3rd at this point for JP, obviously that ship has sailed now though. I think they would gladly take the 1 for 1 though with that retention.

Why? If he had the points he has in Montreal, in Chicago, he would lead the team in points by 2 points.

They'd rather have Nazar

Why? You can't just say something so broad/meaningless and not explain.

Dach was not clearly working with them and he doesn't really fit their timeline.

He's 21 lmao. The Hawks saved the Habs 3 years of development. I think if you ask any reasonable hockey person, they rather have the NHL ready player! This place always amazes me.. how fans can't admit certain trades were mistakes. Dach will eventually be a center. He's developing at a high speed because hes playing with two elite players in Suzuki and Caufield. This trade feels like robbery much like the Danault deal that still haunts the Hawks to this day!

He is only 21 years old, even if their timeline is 5 years he will still be in his prime. 21 is the type of age where you can fit any timeline unless you pull a Buffalo Sabers and go on a 10+ year rebuild. Also he wasn't working because his wrists weren't fully healed until this summer and could you imagine going to work knowing that your bosses and some of your Co-workers were involved in covering up and bulling a man for being SA'ed and then that SAer was recommended for a highschool, no way you could preform your best.
