Canucks would want Winnipeg's 2024 2nd and maybe a 3rd rounder to be persuaded to say yes

Id cough up a 3rd on top but the 2nd seems a bit steep Salo is a legit prospect

I'm just not 100% sure I'd roll the dice like this giving up an established scoring winger for a 2nd rounder who's chances of panning out into an NHL player is basically a coin flip. Granted, he does play a position of need. If the Canucks really liked him, they could have moved Garland for a 2nd + at the 2022 draft and picked him ahead of Winnipeg

Id say its definitely better than a coin flip he's playing amazingly as an 18 yo in the SHL and lets not try act like Vancouver wasnt planning on a bounce back season when the draft was happening, they werent talking about selling then, they sure are now.

No, but they had a surplus of forwards back then like they do now, that hasn't changed. They've always been open to moving one of their top 9 wingers

The optics have certainly changed doesnt mean they have to sell for nothing but they dont exactly have the leverage they had prior to this season, caps tight around the league

Don't have the leverage? I'm not sure what that is suppose to mean. They don't HAVE to make this move

Obviously not but theyre going to dump for assets and when other teams know that theyre not in a position of strength necessarily(leverage)

I still don't know what that means. Garland isn't a distressed asset for the team, so no reason for them to sell suspiciously low on him

Going nowhere with the smallest defense in the league.

Jets love the Garland move, but it'll cost more IMO, not much more but more
Not a big fan of the Oilers deal. THe more I watch Dillon the more I love what he brings to the game.

Two opposite ends of the spectrum moves for the Jets. The Garland move is great for the Jets and the Edmonton deal is awful for Winnipeg.

I’m a huge fan of Salomonsson, so I’d be looking to swap him out for another prospect and upgrade the pick.

Check the talent levels of Makar, Toews and Byram.. lol

Laughable to compare the Jets collection of dmen to the Avs who have a generational player in Makar.

Jesse P would be a good trade target for the jets, but i dont wanna see Dillon go.
It's a little old school but the fights he had vs Dallas and ANA mean a lot for team morale and toughness. Winnipeg used to be a place opposing teams didnt want to visit when Buf, Trouba etc were on the backend. Dillon isnt as good as those two but he adds a similar physical element

So what would it take just to get Jesse? Harkins and a 3rd? 2nd?? D prospect??

I like Puljujarvi but he isn't worth 2 assets. He can't score stapled to two of the best players in the world, so he isn't going to do much in Winnipeg's bottom 6. If you can't get JP for a 3rd or 4th, then you walk away.

And Dillon hits, still need some dmen who can throw a hit.

Well if Puljujarvi can't produce in a bottom six role the Jets should definitely trade for him, pretty sure its a pre-requisite to be unproductive to play in the Jets bottom six so he'll fit right in... 😁

What have you guys thought of Samberg? Hes definitely better then Stanley, doesn't look like anything too special though imo, hopefully he grows into more.

awesome face That's a good point! I haven't really been watching Samberg closely, but I thought he has been doing pretty good. He gets a little lost or scrambly sometimes but that's to be expected for a young guy. Overall, I've liked him.

Yeah hopefully he smooths out his play, do wonder ultimately what his ceiling is, 2nd pair guy I guess as I don't see top pair potential, he doesn't seem to be very offensive though which is fine if he can be a really good shutdown defender.

Yeah, he does seem to have the tools to be an average second pair, defensive guy. Nothing flashy, but solid.
