Not even close for Bo Horvat, Allvin/Rutherford would want one of Carlo/Lysell not two lesser players and 2 late 1st round picks.

Yessir!

Verbeek would have just claimed him rather than upgrading a 6th to a 5th

Boston just waits to see if he becomes a UFA. No sense in giving up multiple first for a player that isn't a need right now

Eh, I'd do it to pick up a veteran D to run out the year on once we move Shattenkirk Klingberg Kulikov

Because if you have the chance to lock him up to a long term contract that solves one issue moving forward (center).

So there’s two parts to this:
The first is the trade, which is just one of the worst trades I’ve seen on this site. He’s a rental (no, don’t care that he comes with an extension, time and time again that his been shown to minimally change the value if at all). Rentals don’t get that much. It’s just not a thing.
The second part is the fit. You’re trading multiple first rounders in case someone gets hurt? That’s such a bad idea.

Horvat to boston just doesn’t make sense.

2024 might not be super late depending on how much Pasta commands, the $4.5m bonus hits rolling over to next year, and how they fill the spots of the remaining UFAs they can't bring back.

This is very true.

Meh, they could offer him 7yr in FA (if he makes it), which isn't a significant decrease for 8yrs in a "sign and trade" situation.

I think the value is pretty fair. Not often you can get two 1st round picks from a team. Canucks could draft with both of those picks or they could flip one of them in another acquisition.

Having said that, while I don't think the value is far off I also don't think the Canucks will be interested in 2 1sts. Management wants to re-tool this thing on the fly pretty quickly (whether it works or not) so they probably want at least 1 more NHL ready asset involved.

Hawks decline. Why would they give up ANY asset for a 33 year old rental. Smith + 2023 3rd for Future Considerations.
