Why does Debrincat get THAT much more than Fiala did?

It’s probably a slight overpay - debrincat is worth it though, he’s better than Fiala

Maybe a defenseman for Debrincat? Sens don't need forwards

In a trade or money?

I think the only way the isles should give up their 2023 1st if they can get a player in his prime. Like a Debrincat or Meier. Horvat, Tarasenko, Kane etc don’t make sense for them. They need someone to play with Barzal and Wahlstrom on the 1st line

I meant long term. I think he’s worth it and that top line would be the best they’ve had in a long time but it would be hard to improve the team much more with raises coming up for other guys

They don’t need to improve the defense and they have guys on ELC who can help. If you’re referring to Sorokin and Dobson in 2 years, I agree but the cap should be going up.

In 24-25 the isles ideal top 6 would be

Debrincat-Barzal-Wahlstrom
Nelson-Raty - trade/UFA/ELC

Top 4 will be the same as it is now. They should have enough money to improve in some areas

Oh yes my mistake. I thought this was 22-23 and thought those guys would be due raises sooner

Interesting that Ottawa is getting a nicer package than they gave up for Debrincat. And its a better/deeper draft..

Does Fiala have 2 40 goal seasons like Alex DeBrincat? The answer is no. We rest our case.

Not the Sens fault Chicago underpaid. But I don't think the sens take this anyway

Sens aren’t going to get a better return than this, and if they go for need over best package available then they will continue to be a mediocre team for the foreseeable future

I guess Krieder is worth more than mcdavid then since only one of them has scored 50

Kreider has been in the league for 12 years compared to McDavids 8. Give him a chance McDavid will put 50 here shortly.

My point is that simply scoring more goals doesn't make you a significantly better player

Never said it did, But it definitely helps during contract negotiations.

Lol I forgot you are the all knower of trades. Imagine the Islanders traded Barzal for an average shutdown LHD and another D prospect 😂. Be pretty pointless wouldn't it. No one will score but at least it was a good package

Lol yeah because A 2023 1sts , two 2nds and a B+ prospect is the equivalent to an average LHD and a D prospect !
