MTL aren’t selling low on Dvorak
We only have Suzuki 1C and Evans 4C signed next year
We can’t trade Dvorak for a 2nd (because we aren’t extending Compher)

Habs will likely end the season with Monahan, Suzuki, Compher and Evans.

After the season. they can trade away Evans , sign Compher & resign Monahan and make a trade for Dubois.

What do you think about that ?

Easy declines for Avs on both.

Dvorak is overpaid and the Avs are about to get cap crunched. They already won’t be able to afford to re-sign Compher next year. Why would they pay a 2nd to downgrade to a more expensive player?

There’s probably a Toews trade that works out there, but this ain’t it. That’s a big overpay imo.

LOC is also on one of the most efficient contracts in the league. He’s obviously just a role player/PK guy, but can’t see the Avs moving him.

Dvorak isn’t a 2nd rd pick better than Compher, and COL isn’t trading a cost controlled known asset in LOC, a 1st and Kaut for an old rental. You literally traded a 1st, their middle 6 Swiss Army knife, their arguably best forechecker and cost controlled Kaut for a more expensive version of Compher, an old guy AND kept Hunt in the line up. COL just be better off doing nothing than this. And oh yeah took on Dvorak’s extra million over Compher, decreased their cap space next year giving them $10M to re-sign Newhook, Byram, a dman, a replacement for Cogliano Helm Rodrigues Toews and Hunt. No bueno.

Dvorak cost Montreal a (likely higher than Colorado) first rounder and he has shown good value for his contract so that will be the asking price.
We do not need him, that is the only reason to sell. The reason we do not need him is becasue of of Sean Monahan, Owen Beck, Jake Evans, Filip Mesar and Riley Kidney and we will probably be drafting a top-10 #1C in 2023. Let's not forget Dach could still learn to win faceoffs...

Bergevin panic traded for a center because he lost Kotkaniemi. Just because Montreal’s GM makes a bad trade doesn’t mean other teams will. Dvorak isn’t worth a 1st rounder. He’s a solid player I guess, but 3rd liners shouldn’t be making $4.5M. He has not shown solid value for his contract whatsoever.

Well..."lost" might be a bit strong for Kotkaniemi lol. I would rather have Dvorak on my team than Compher; he is worth a million dollars more, a year younger and on a softer team. I think he is #1 on the team in faceoffs and Montreal has a very strong faceoff team this year so he's not just a third liner he eats minutes. Maybe a mid - #2 pick is more appropriate in recognition of Bergevin sucking but a Colorado #2 is basically a #3. Let's see what happens after Horvat and Monahan are traded and teams have to start looking down the list for a 2.5C...
