What IS it with people? We signed Ryan Strome and Frank Vatrano on July 13 and people think that we're going to trade them 20 games in?!?!? That's how you never get to sign another free agent again while that GM has his job.

Fowler has too much term left to retain on. Strone JUST signed with us for 5 years.

Why in the world would COL do that ANA trade? Why trade Kaut? Why does CBJ do that? COL is 3pts out of 1st place in the central with 3 games in hand. COL just needs to get healthy not make a bunch of bad trades.

What are you talking about. Girard is a Solid top 4 D man. If Colorado didn't have 5 Top D I wouldn't trade him. Fowler will be 4 or 5th Dman on Colorado. Girard is 5 years younger then Fowler and is a better puck mover. I want Fowler as a replacement for my 5th DMan. Strome is a decent number 2C. I need to give Newie some time to bake and he will be the 2C. This is only happening becuase of the injuries on teh AVs. Otherwise I wouldn't take the chance on taking Ducks player.

Kaut is a good kid on a slower team he will get more then 4 minutes a game. As for why do the trade. If you remember a few years ago when the Avs had a bunch of compounding injuries. One led to the another from overuse. I'm trying to avoid the damage to Mak, Mac, Rant.

I'm saying that asking for a retention spot for 4 seasons, equating to ~12 mil on Fowler, and asking us to trade a guy we just signed to 5 years term 21 games ago are both non starters.

That turns Girard into a 7.5 or 8 million dollar player on our books, and we have a copy of him in our system that's about to crack our roster. We're oversaturated on puck moving D and need defensively minded guys.

We can't move Strome because no UFA would sign with us after that knowing they could sign here for term and then get shipped out right after they finish moving in.

If you need a 2C we have Henrique avaliable, and if you need a defenseman you can select from Kulikov, Shattenkirk, or Klingberg as they're avaliable.

4 minutes is so disingenuous he’s averaging more than 10, Galchenyuk sucks. And as far as doing anything to reduce ice time you traded out a middle 6 forward and a top 4 dman and brought in the same guys that are older more expensive and not really any better than traded out another forward in the middle 6, so literally you did nothing to improve the depth or quality. It’s making moves for the sake of making moves.

Ducks only retain for this year. So 3mil.

I'm not familiar with the rule that allows for teams to retain on only part of the duration of a salary, and can't think of one that has worked that way. Got the rule or an example handy?
