Making a statement with their first big splash, the Flyers go out and acquire one of the hottest trade targets across in the NHL in Jakob Chychrun to play alongside Ivan Provorov on the top pair.

Arizona gets Philadelphia’s 2024 first round pick alongside the Flyers’ best defender from last season in Travis Sanheim, who kicks off the first year of a long-term extension in 2023-24. Also included is up-and-coming blueliner Ronnie Attard, who is on the cusp of being NHL ready after an impressive start in the AHL.

In a low-risk/high reward situation, the Rangers pay a mid-round draft pick a couple years down the line to give Morgan Frost a chance to flourish alongside talented players in the Big Apple. More goal scoring help could propel this Islanders team into a deeper playoff run.

After losing Ryan McDonagh and Jan Rutta over the summer, the Bolts’ defense is not exactly what it once was. To secure some added depth for another deep playoff run, Tampa brings in veteran Justin Braun. He’s a very simple “what you see is what you get” defender, who doesn’t usually stick out for better or for worse.

With Ryan Reaves securing a fifth round pick in return for the New York Rangers, the Flyers use that benchmark and take advantage of MacEwen’s offensive stats to bump the return up a round.

The Edmonton Oilers want more grit. Zack MacEwen is a player who embodies that and more. Following a brief stint in the AHL at the beginning of the season, Big Mac is rejuvenated and is one of the most noticeable players for Philadelphia on a consistent basis. His undeniable work ethic and recent offensive findings have made him one of the more valuable enforcers in the league.
