I know you're a big Kane fan, but he isn't the guy the leafs need in the top 6. They need a digger that will go to the dirty area's and win battles, leafs have their skilled guys they need some puck retrieval make the d-man move the puck to quick that causes mistakes. Then Mattews, Marner, Tavares and Willie capitalize on the mistakes. Bunting is good but he doesn't make other teams d-men hurry their puck movement because a hit is coming, he tries to get to the net but big d-men in the playoffs stop him cold in his tracks. Someone like Jeannot is what the leafs need. TB gives up a first rounder for Hagel because that's who they needed; it helped get them to the final again.

Would have been the same cost for Miller too.

I agree with you on the need. Kane is far from my top target at the deadline. I think he will cost too much for a pending ufa. I would be happy with Jeannot but not at this price. Not even close.
