    That‘s probably true.

This doesn’t seem like enough for the Islanders, given their place in the standings.

I mean as long as they remain where they are in the standings they‘re obviously not going to sell.

But assuming they would sell I don‘t think this is far of in terms of value. MAF fetched a 2nd last year…

If it was just Varlamov maybe, but cap space is a premium right now, and taking on Bernier would probably be the total value of that other 2nd. Throwing Parise in, who has been better than expected this season, would probably mean a higher price.

So, operating under the unlikely assumption that the Isles are selling at the deadline...

I'd trade Varlamov for Blackwood and a 2nd, if you're just gonna dump Blackwood on Anaheim. Would rather take a chance on seeing if he can be rehabbed into a decent goalie again with his lower cap hit and term, instead of turning pending UFA Varly into pending UFA Bernier.

Parise would only be available if he wants to be available (if that makes sense) - he doesn't have an NTC, but Lou is Lou (as both our fanbases know) and he's not gonna move a respected vet unless they want to be moved. If Parise wants to run it back with the Devils one more time, I think adding another 2nd or throwing in a random prospect is fine. Isn't Tyce Thompson one of Brent's kids? Throw him in to the mix and we'll see how that works. So Blackwood/Tyce Thompson/2nd for Varlamov/Parise. And as a kicker - if the Isles are out of it at the deadline, I assume they're not gonna be using their deadline space, so they can retain Varly down for a sweetener if you want flexibility to make other moves.

Only way I see the Ducks taking Blackwood is if we ship out Stolarz AND we feel Dostal isn't ready for a cup of coffee.

Bernier is LTIR bound and comes of the books in summer. In terms of capspace this deal would be a net positive for the Islanders.

Cap space is still costly. Monahan has to be taken with a 1st rounder before anyone would consider it. It

That was an offseason move and is thus not comparable to a deadline move. Especially since Bernier is a rental.

Tbf there aren’t many comps of cap dumps during the TDL

    Last TDL
The Dadonov deal was coupled with a 2nd rounder
The LTIR deal for Bryan Little cost a mid rounder and a prospect

That’s about it at a glance. Either way it wouldn’t cover the cost for moving the LTIR contract, plus Varlamov and Parise

Personally, wouldn’t want Parise back under any circumstances. He left. It’s over. Will never be rekindled.
